Re: NBA Thread 2024-2025
I decided to watch the Nuggets/OKC since it was game 7 and couldn't believe how poorly Russell Westbrook played when he was once one of the best guards in the league. Then, I looked up his salary and he's only making $3.3M/year. Then I realize their primary play is to throw the ball to Jokic at the high post and let him work so it was easy for OKC to cut off the angles where the ball was going. Impressed by Holmgren's ability to dribble drive and get to the rim. Should be interesting watching San Antonio and OKC next year when Wembanyama gets heathy.

Russell Westbrook has always been a stat pad player. Now, he thinks of himself as younger version player of himself.shrek2 wrote: Sun May 18, 2025 11:59 am I decided to watch the Nuggets/OKC since it was game 7 and couldn't believe how poorly Russell Westbrook played when he was once one of the best guards in the league. I guess the ideal finals is for Minnesota to play the Knicks since the stars for each team were involved in the trade with each other. Karl Anthony Towns vs Randle and DiVincenzo.

that would probably make for a cool storyline, but I think okc is a heavy favorite. their team is pretty stacked, I was surprised that denver brought the series to 7.shrek2 wrote: Sun May 18, 2025 2:03 pmI guess the ideal finals is for Minnesota to play the Knicks since the stars for each team were involved in the trade with each other. Re: NBA Thread 2024-2025
There's a lot of news about the Warriors picking up Giannis from the Bucks or Steven Adams from Houston but nobody really talks about the best center in my mind who is Anthony Davis even though he's 6'10, he's a rim protector, clutch shooter and great offensive rebounder. I've actually seen reports of the Lakers trying to get him back.

I wonder how the momentum swings with the Timberwolves 40pt win over OKC. I notice that Chet Holmgren was sitting out in the second half and I actually think if he's out for a prolonged time, it might mean a bigger loss than SGA.

There's no need to have Chet Holmgren on the court when they're losing by 40.shrek2 wrote: Sun May 25, 2025 2:57 pm I wonder how the momentum swings with the Timberwolves 40pt win over OKC. Chet Holmgren is a money player. He beat the Warriors twice in the 2023-24 season. One time he hit a three with only 1.x seconds left for the win, then he was fouled on a last second three point attempt and made all three free throws to send the game into overtime and OKC took over.

I like those camera shots when they spock one celebrity. It adds to the atmosphere of a big game.

The New Yawk Knicks need a new head coach. How about Stephen A,Smith? It's so crazy that it just might work. Pat Riley went from radio color man to head coach of the Lakers.

This is a good series coming up with the Pacers and Thunder; two small market teams that will never be on TV unless they're playing the Celtics or Lakers. I think OKC in 6 but I've watched more of them.

The first game of the Finals was amazing. OKC led the Pacers for 47:59:57 of the game before the final shot. Not having watched OKC throughout the season, couldn't figure out why they didn't play Holmgren the last five minutes.

Re: NBA Thread 2024-2025
mm, I personally am not going to watch any of the finals games. watched every second of the ECF and don't really have anything against the pacers players, but being forced to listen to reggie miller literally coaching for the pacers instead of commentating when the score was close for every single game on TNT just put a stank on anything pacers. also listening to the whole pacers home crowd chant obi toppin's name for like a minute after they watched him literally smash josh hart across the face on replay is pretty classless as a whole. pacers half court offense past it's first option is so ugly it hurts to watch, and when OKC's SGA gets to foul-baiting, falling when a strong breeze hits him, it's really not fun to watch either.shrek2 wrote: Fri Jun 06, 2025 4:48 am The first game of the Finals was amazing. if there's a close ending or something I may give it a youtube view after it happens but I don't care what happens either way. heard it was least viewed finals opening game since they recorded ratings in 1988

Re: NBA Thread 2024-2025
I can't blame you for not following the Finals if you got fed up with the Conference Championships. About the announcing, I think Mike Breen called the Pacers the Mavericks early in the game. I think the only person I like out of the three person broadcast team is Doris Burke. I think it's pretty cool that the fans actually chant something tasteful like "free throw merchant" instead of chanting obscenities for SGA. It seems like all NBA basketball players are taught to do a judo tumble on a contested layup. If anything, I think SGA did not come through for OKC in the closing minutes and it was probably the coach's fault more than SGA. OKC needed another clutch player on the floor in the closing minutes and they didn't have one.ubercow wrote: Sat Jun 07, 2025 9:52 pmmm, I personally am not going to watch any of the finals games. watched every second of the ECF and don't really have anything against the pacers players, but being forced to listen to reggie miller literally coaching for the pacers instead of commentating when the score was close for every single game on TNT just put a stank on anything pacers. also listening to the whole pacers home crowd chant obi toppin's name for like a minute after they watched him literally smash josh hart across the face on replay is pretty classless as a whole. pacers half court offense past it's first option is so ugly it hurts to watch, and when OKC's SGA gets to foul-baiting, falling when a strong breeze hits him, it's really not fun to watch either.shrek2 wrote: Fri Jun 06, 2025 4:48 am The first game of the Finals was amazing.
