I think there's more to the 'trade deficit' than meets the eye. Malls are a thing here. Every mall here has a Starbucks, a KFC, and a McDonald's...not to mention flagship stores like Nike and Apple. Aside from the malls, there is literally a Seven-Eleven on every corner. One can also easily find a Pizza Hut, Domino's, Subway, or a Taco Bell. American companies also manufacture many products here. These employ American managers and technicians. When I watch a movie...it's American. The technology I use is American.

Powell tells the truth about the state of the economy and Trump wants him fired.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets ... 71db&ei=24
Early Thursday, President Trump said Fed Chairman Powell is always too late and wrong, and said his exit "cannot come fast enough." The remarks appeared to be a reaction to Powell's Wednesday comments about big Trump tariffs spurring higher inflation and weaker growth, and his view that the Fed can still await more "clarity."

Trump is doubling down on idiocy by blaming Powell for yet another day of stock dives trying to say that interest rates are the cause of the bear market. No, making more money available by lowering interest rates is just playing monopoly. Inverted yield rates are the first sign of a recession.

I guess that Trump was just BS'ing about the tariffs going up then down just to play tricks with the stock market.

This can get scary with Robert Kennedy Jr. in charge. His incompetence was a topic on the latest John Oliver episode. He has shown how he handled measles in the past.

I'm sorry, but I actually think Trump has always tried to diminish America and increase his personal bankroll. During his first term, he did plenty to bring America, and the world, down. His border policy did nothing to solve it, but it did waste a lot of dollars. His tax break for the rich doomed the deficit. His coddling of the Russians provoked the next phase of the incursion into Ukraine. Of course, he blamed Biden for it. Worst of all, he mishandled the pandemic which not only killed actual people...it caused inflation. He, again, blamed Biden. Inflation occurred worldwide...Biden didn't cause that. Trump also signed off on the Afghan war at his departure. He then blamed Biden yet again.

Trump 2.0 is proving to be much worse. He, again, starts off by coddling the aggressor in Ukraine. He then began an unprecedented war on the rule of law. Deporting people with-out due process is not ok. Threatening judges, the media, and law firms is downright un-American. Finally, his Smoot-Hawley Tariff resurrection is driving long-time allies away, and sending the world into an economic slow-down. The way he talks to his allies is also embarrassing.

The following is a tourism promotion bit by the country of Switzerland. If you go to the Youtube page, you'll find the world-wide condemnation of Trump interesting.

This is actually funny that the WH is upset that Amazon is thinking about listing the tariff charge on their goods. The truth hurts. Tariffs get passed on to the consumer.

Surprise, surprise...people are less interested in visiting America. I remember Canadians being some of my best repeat customers on Maui back in the day.

If I was going to be a potential tourist to visit the US, I would seriously reconsider my options. Trump-a-Dump is a moron.

There was a quiz on a local station news where it was multiple choice and it asked what country has the highest number of tourists? A. France, B. US, C. Spain. I would have guessed the US because so many of my European friends used to like to go to Florida and NY. Also, I meet a lot of tourists in California from Europe. Then, there's Hawaii which must attract all kinds of Asian tourists. I was surprised that France had the largest number of tourists.
