With the Upcoming Officials Tournament What are you guys predictions?

- Excited to see who’s made the jump from last year as officials has been the tournament for emergence(Freshman upcomers, Upperclassman simply getting better)
Teams:
Boys: 1.KSK, 2.MOA, 3.KLN, 4.MIL
-Kam has by far the most quality through their roster, Kalani and Mililani could be interchangable, Moanalua will probably fill out their roster but depending where individuals go could affect team scores
Girls:1.KSK,2.MOA,3. BAL
-Moanalua girls seem to be injured and based off returnees from previous years kamehamehas roster could definitely dethrone the menehunes

Individual final predictions
106: K.Hotema(KLN) V R.Laughlin(MIL)
113: A.Woode(NAN) V J.Thai(PEC)
120:D.Tanaka(MOA) V J.Dudoit(MOL), depending on how brackets come out Tanaka could make it to finals, additionally it doesn’t seem like Bicoy’s year
126: P.Kamakaala(KAH) V Q.Corpuz(MOA)
132:H.Berger(STL) V P.Chang(KSK)
138:M.Higgins(MOA) V I.Torres(KLN)
144: T.Taam(MOA) V K.Shigemoto(MIL)
150:M.Labuanan(KSM) V ?
157: J.Machida(IOL) V R.Theos(LEI)
165:K.Goes(CSTL) V ?
175: G.Beulow(PUN) V R.Nishida(KSK)

Heavy weights I don’t really keep track of and i’m pretty sure I messed up on a couple weights, but what are your thoughts? Excited for sure to see the freshman emergents as last year marked the underclassman to enter finals.

I think 165 is gonna have multiple returning placers with Passetti (MAUI), Ito (PUN), Takitani (BAL), and supposedly Paclib (KAM) staying up for officials. Could make for a more interesting bracket.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Kalani boys take the 2 spot. Moanalua boys team doesn’t quite look complete.

Gotta agree with KSK girls winning it. Too much injuries and holes in Moanalua’s lineup.

I got Tauyan vs Torres at 138 and machida vs Cole Rodriguez at 157. If paaluhi is healthy then he’ll make the 150 finals

Past weekend pretty disgusted with H Berger sportsmanship.
Clearly kick the crap out of the Pac5 kid then slams him. Ref ruled illegal slam and kid is down and injured. While the trainers are tending to the pac5 kid,Hunter and his coach laughing about the whole thing. Berger's dad filming and laughing as well, I guess I know where he gets it.
I get being good and dominate but to intentionally slam your opponent and mock him is in poor taste although typical of a Saint Louis athlete.

How’s his wrestling look? He gonna run through 132? Also wanted to say I’m pretty excited for this weekend. A lot of good teams to pay attention to. I think it’ll be a battle for 2nd in the boys team race right?

Hopefully Hunter and Paliku meet in the finals at 132. That should be a fun match. Anyway, does anyone know when preliminary brackets will be posted?

I’ll take your word as to what you saw. I wasn’t there. It seems very out of character as I know both Hunter and the dad. He’s on the shy side. Doesn’t show much emotion. Doesn’t pump his fists after victories. But he’s growing up, maybe he’s changing. The Father is a really nice soft spoken guy. I know he’s coming back home to watch Hunter wrestle at the officials tournament. He’s been in the mainland taking care of his sick father. I can’t picture them wanting to injure another kid and laughing about it. I’ll see them at officials. I’ll see if their demeanor has changed.

I’m looking forward to the officials tournament. Get to see the ILH and outer islands. Also very curious how good the two mainland teams are. Do they have any studs?

I was there and sitting right on the sideline. Your description of what happened is exaggerated and not accurate. I recorded the match and if you watch closely, Hunter went down with that kid, did not place any weight on him or “slam” him. Perhaps from where you were sitting, or from far it may look like that. As for the laughing, the SLS coach I agree was out of line and sadly when Hunter looked at him he smiled back but neither his dad or Hunter was laughing to mock him.

If I’m remembering right OldManJenkins is an OG in these wrestling forums and he’s always been more on the cynical side. So his opinion may hold a bit of a negative bias haha

- Excited to see who’s made the jump from last year as officials has been the tournament for emergence(Freshman upcomers, Upperclassman simply getting better)

-Kam has by far the most quality through their roster, Kalani and Mililani could be interchangable, Moanalua will probably fill out their roster but depending where individuals go could affect team scores
Girls:1.KSK,2.MOA,3. BAL
-Moanalua girls seem to be injured and based off returnees from previous years kamehamehas roster could definitely dethrone the menehunes

Individual final predictions
106: K.Hotema(KLN) V R.Laughlin(MIL)
113: A.Woode(NAN) V J.Thai(PEC)
120:D.Tanaka(MOA) V J.Dudoit(MOL), depending on how brackets come out Tanaka could make it to finals, additionally it doesn’t seem like Bicoy’s year
126: P.Kamakaala(KAH) V Q.Corpuz(MOA)
132:H.Berger(STL) V P.Chang(KSK)
138:M.Higgins(MOA) V I.Torres(KLN)
144: T.Taam(MOA) V K.Shigemoto(MIL)
150:M.Labuanan(KSM) V ?
157: J.Machida(IOL) V R.Theos(LEI)
165:K.Goes(CSTL) V ?
175: G.Beulow(PUN) V R.Nishida(KSK)

Heavy weights I don’t really keep track of and i’m pretty sure I messed up on a couple weights, but what are your thoughts? Excited for sure to see the freshman emergents as last year marked the underclassman to enter finals.
Nice start, here are my differences of opinion and outliers that may find their way into the fray.
106, 113, and 132 I think are right on the money. Abernathy(BAL) at 132 will be a tough out though. Not sure if Suan(StL) is trying to make this weight, but I think he might be.
120: Kamakaʻala(KAH) v Bicoy(PC) - Bicoy lost 2 controversial matches v Dudoit and I think he beats him in the semis. Kamakaʻala has looked real good so far this season
126: Corpuz(MOA) v Giron(LEI) if Gironʻs leg holds out - Landford(KSK) will be here later in the year.
138: Torres(KLN) v winner of the Tauyan(LEI)/Higgins(MOA)/Wolf(WAK) quarter
144: Taam(MOA) v Shigemoto/McKenzie winner. Should be a great semi match
150: Labuanan(KSM) v Gasilos/Wang winner - rematch of 3rd place match at states last year
157: .... No idea tbh... Rodriguez(ROS) v Furuta(PUN)? Might be the most open weight class of all.
165: Goeas(CAS) v Passetti(MAU)... This one is a bit crazy. I hope the bracket gets adjusted, but will be fun regardless. Theos(LEI), Schultz(RAD), Passetti(MAU), Ito(PUN), Dunn(Ito), Mainland kid all on bottom of bracket. Only Goeas and Paclib on top half.
175: I think youʻre correct here, but only because McCreadie(KAS) isnʻt wrestling. I donʻt think is eligible for another week or two for 175.
190: Maira(KON) v Harbottle(KSK)
215: Gaucher(KAS) v Jongert(KON), but the first round match between Honebein(KIL) and Ho(PUN) will be the best match in rd 1 in all weight classes I think. One of them might beat Kaumavae(MOA)
285: Miller(KSK) v Mainland - Miller will be tested early by Peau(WAN) though and may not make it past him. Miner(PC) might make a run on the bottom of the bracket too if he can get past Alapai(KLN)

Team: KSK --- for 2nd it could literally be like 5 different teams including Kona. I think 120 and 165(outside of Goeas) are the deepest weight classes and will have a lot of exciting matches. 120 might have 3 state placers DNP. 144 will be fun as well.
if I have time tonight I will try to preview the girls.

Speaking of 165, bracket got shuffled with Freshman Kukonu (MOA) not being entered anymore, and Passetti (MAU) and Dunne (IOL) being moved up to the other side of the bracket, balancing out like you said

Girls Preview:
100: Yogi(PC) v Zeller(CAM) - Should be a lot of fun since Yogi didnʻt get to compete at states last year when Zeller won it.
105: Obuhanych(PC) v Hotema(KLN) - tbh not sure who makes it from bottom half, but am interested in seeing what Hotema can do at her own weight.
110: Cabinian(LEI) v Lavarias(PC) - Wakinekona(KSK) good possibly win the bracket out of the 4 seed though. No Ramos(MOA) is interesting.
115: Hokoana(KSK) v Mahoe(NAN) - The winner of Trivedi/Cabinian could possbily challenge Hokoana though. Gantala v Mahoe semi will be fun
120: Kalamau(MOA) v Paragas(PUN) dropping to this weight makes it much more interesting. Kekiwi-Jones(KK) will challenge Nahenahe in the semis. Fernandez(BAL) going from 100 to 120 should be interesting.
125: Hasegawa(BAL) v DeAngelo(IOL), but Hasegawa v Paclib semi might be the best match. Defending champ Nishida not being here due to injury is unfortunate though. Will make a difference later in the season
130: Realin(KSK) v Joy(BAL) - yup...
135: Mataʻafa-Grove(BAL) v Lopes(KAH) - but Kapihe(KPO) and Luafalemana(FAR) could make waves. I might actually pick Luafalemana to make finals - No Uyemura(PC) is interesting. Any word?
140: Kinimaka(CAM) v Taeu(KAH) although I do it with no confidence because of possible injuries
145: Esera(KAH) v Yasumura(MOA) - battle of the runner-ups should be good.
155: Sugui(MOA) v Kamaka(BAL) - Sugui yes, other half bracket... not sure
170: Miguel(BAL) v Kamaka(BAL) .... see above but replace Sugui with Miguel
190: Borden-Phillips(MOL) v Meyers(WAN) sorry for all the chalk, but just not sure on some of these and am defaulting
235: Ahue-Bolosan(LEI) v Meredith(PC) repeat of last years finals unless Bartley(KSK) or Mailo(KAH) can shake it up.
Top 3 teams could be weird with the lack of some wrestlers. KSK, MOA, BAL, PC should all score well.
