Wasn't Skylar Diggins the "it" girl for the WNBA because of being attractive? Now, she has to compete with Angel Reese and Cameron Brink with model good looks.

Postgame interview with Lexi Hull, CC and Kelsie Mitchell. Ladies being girls and making the game fun with Lexi's double entendre on playing defense by going after as many balls as possible. It feels like Kelsie would be the go to person when the game is on the line.

Fever versus Aces today at 4:30pm PDT/1:30pm HT. Fever lost to the Aces consistently because of Aja Wilson, likely MVP of the WNBA. CC has to cut down on her turnovers in order to win. Gotta give CC some love because of her like of Taylor Swift's post.

Re: Caitlin Clark Phenomenon
Watching the game with the Aces, CC showed her frustration early in the game because she was missing her 3's. Hope she realizes that this made the difference in the game. She was 0 for 5 with 4 turnovers and 2 missed free throws in the first half even though she has a 90% made. She received a technical for hitting the stanchion because she was frustrated with her own game but nevertheless it just makes the other team realize that they got to her and it just gives the other team more confidence. It also makes the game less entertaining.

We're going see how much interest in the WNBA when Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are out of the playoffs in the first round. At least Sheryl Swoopes will still be a fan.

Re: Caitlin Clark Phenomenon
One thing that CC did for the WNBA was bring attention to the league. I see Kelsey Mitchell as being the best on the Fever with her one handed left/right layup and Lexi Hull with her 60% three point shooting and offensive rebounds. Had it not been for CC, I probably would never notice these players. But, yeah, I'm in agreement, that I'm probably going to lose interest after the Fever lose to the Sun.

Was the voter who didn't vote for Caitlin Clark for the Rookie of the Year just being a contrarian?

Re: Caitlin Clark Phenomenon
It was probably a Chicago Sky writer who felt Angel Reese made more of an impact because of her offensive rebounds and record setting rebounds as a rookie. It's actually going to be tough for CC to have as much influence in the WNBA in the future because of her size or lack of. I think players can also see that she uses her left foot to push off on her three point shot so they are going to look when she crosses over to her left but she mostly goes right.

Caitlin Clark has been compared to being the Stephen Curry of women's basketball. She's a smaller guard who can dominate a game. She's not just a from way downtown three-point shooter. Caitlin Clark has shown that she can be a playmaker with her assists. She just gotta cut down on the turnovers.

Re: Caitlin Clark Phenomenon
Since Curry was mentioned, I had to post this video on Curry paying attention to his fans.
Link
Been watching Curry for years but don't really think he's dominant but a good team player. My favorite Warrior has been Green except for last year. Curry makes the most on the Warrior team at around $50M but he is one of three athletes that makes more through their endorsements than their salaries because he says the right thing no matter what the moment might be. One of the others is LeBron. I've seen Curry layup left and right handed high off the glass to avoid the block or down the middle flip the ball higher than the center on other teams. CC will greatly improve her game if she likes, using her left hand as much as her right.

CC's classmate in the WNBA, Angel Reese is complaining that the WNBA doesn't pay for her $8,000/month rent. That seems like a subject that would turn her fans off.

Re: Caitlin Clark Phenomenon
Just catching up on the WNBA.
CC is leaving WNBA? Doesn't she have a multi-year contract, or that's not how the NBA works? Ok, there may be more $$$ in Europe (or Russia), but I can't imagine women's basketball is "bigger" than WNBA. The WNBA just going to let her walk? I don't disagree with CC's feeling about leaving as the league don't seem to value her. And the physical fouls are not acceptable. I assume WNBA is her dream as a youngster. She is at her prime. Yes, she can leave and comeback at age 35, but that's not going to be the same. She is not going to be the same player she is now. And we will never know how she will become and (WNBA) won't remember. IMO, we are talking about GOAT here.
Angel Reese - she is banned for life? Life? Not saying I like her game play or drama. But without these two player (and another 2-3 other players) there is no reason to watch the WNBA. And WNBA will go back to irrelevance. USFL, Arena Football, XFL, etc. Now is what..UFL.

Re: Caitlin Clark Phenomenon
I did see something on YouTube that talked about CC leaving the WNBA but I think that was all conjecture based on one person's feelings or thinking. The reason, according to the poster was because the rest of the league is picking on her.
I looked it up and it just talks about her looking forward to next year. There's another post about people trying to get her to join the WNBA 3 player league but that's not really her game. Half court, to me, is for the big ladies and CC's game is spread the floor out and run. I don't think CC will go anywhere other than the WNBA because she has a huge fan base where she's at and she has a $28M contract with Nike.
I don't where Angel Reese's head is at. She will join the new 3-on-3 league and will be great in that league but, I don't know if that interferes in the regular 5-on-5 regular season. I think the 3-on-3 season is just to add cash to the ladies pockets. Also, it's going to be in the LA games in 2028.

$8,000 a month? Is she staying at a short-term rental on Maui?shrek2 wrote: Fri Oct 18, 2024 5:58 am CC's classmate in the WNBA, Angel Reese is complaining that the WNBA doesn't pay for her $8,000/month rent. That seems like a subject that would turn her fans off.
