Kentucky transfer WR Dekel Crowdus commits

Post by kapakahi »

Was a former 4-star WR/PR/KR....but has had limited production due to knee injury (2021 redshirt & 2022 seasons) & off-the-field issues (prior to 2023 season). Originally from Lexington, KY. with 2 to play 2.

Although he didn't have much production at Kentucky due to injuries, it seems he has a lot of untapped potential. He's a burner and has 4.32 40 speed. He had offers out of high school from Auburn, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Baylor, Michigan, Florida State, Ohio State, Tennessee, Penn State, Texas, Kentucky and others.

Here's what a 24/7 analyst Allen Trieu said in 2020:
Very lean wideout prospect. Size and skill set project him into the slot. Has high-end speed and explosiveness. Can take short passes and does not need much room to run by defenders after the catch. Also can take the top off a defense and get down the field. Makes cuts and full speed and is good on double moves. Even though he is not a big receiver, he will go get the ball and can make catches in traffic. Must get stronger in college. Fits today's offenses very well and should be a dangerous playmaker both at receiver and as a return man. Pure speed and skill set will give him a chance to play on Sundays.

Yes, also with being used at slot, hope we can use him at PR/KR and not for just fair catching

Is it a UH requirement for transfer players to have a nickname?

We have "Sauce."

We have "Boggie"

We now have "The Flash."

I'm fine with nicknames if you earned them and live up to them.

Lots of competition in the WR room!

Looks like he was mostly a WR vs Slot, so maybe can do both. UH had never had this type of pedigree. Panoke doesn't have the needed speed to be a deep threat.

In a Kentucky article I read, it said he was playing X or left WR.

Someone in the athletic department is doing a great job working with admissions in getting late commits like Crowdus, Ross and Barfield into school this semester.

Hoping this is a McBride 2.0. If we get some more OL transfers I’ll feel good about the offense.

Receiver Dekel “Kel” Crowdus, who entered the portal in December after three seasons at Kentucky, is enrolled at UH and will participate in the Warriors’ spring training beginning Jan. 29.

Crowdus, who is 5-foot-10 and 171 pounds, received a 4-star rating from 247Sports as a Frederick Douglass High (Lexington, Ky.) senior in 2020.

Because of an injury, Crowdus redshirted as a freshman in 2021. He played 10 games in each of the next two seasons. In 2022, he had a 50-yard reception in Kentucky’s upset of Mississippi State.

If the OL can prove that they can sustain blocks, then Schager Bombs all the way!
