2024 Football Season
Re: 2024 Football Season
Coach Salanoa and staff are developing this young Radford squad..The Rams have a good pass-run balance. I think their defense shines a little brighter than the offense because the D keeps them in striking distance.
Looking at the standings in OIA D-I, Leilehua and Moanalua are locks for the OIA playoffs. Leilehua can nail the No.1 seed with a win vs Pearl City because Leilehua beat Moanalua straight up.
It gets interesting with the next tier of teams. Kailua and Radford could nail down the No.3 and No.4 seeds with wins over Aiea and Waianae respectively. Na Alii and the Seariders won’t be an easy out though. If Waianae beats Radford ,and Kailua loses to Aiea, then Radford ,Kailua and Waianae would all tie with a 4-3 record for the last two OIA playoff spots.
I don’t know what the OIA tiebreaker procedure is. For all I know, the league might go to a coin flip straight away.

Re: 2024 Football Season
Agree - Radford should be applauded. This Radford team is NOT stacked. . . so winning is not a guarantee. BUT they have a coach/staff willing to actually take a fair look at the kids they do have (with backgrounds from all over the place I might add) and put them in the right positions/plays to have success. That's good coaching. And that's why Radford is winning - this Radford team could easily be a losing team if the coaches weren't like this. Bravo, Rams you're one of my new favorite teams.

@Gridiron88: First of all, I prefer Kahuku High to St Louis School. However, after what the Saints did to the Puns, there's a good chance that they would beat the Red Raiders. The Puns' D is no slouch; in fact, that's the strength of their team. Yet, look at what the Saints did. Again, if the Red Raiders and Saints meet in States, I want the Red Raiders to win; unfortunately, I don't think they would. As good as the Red Raiders' D is--and, I think it's the best in the state--I think the Saints' O would prevail.Gridiron88 wrote: Sat Oct 19, 2024 9:28 pm Eef Kahuku not winning statez, at leese St Lulu not winning, 2. Lol, as much as I'm a RR fan, the next few weeks should determine, the OIA and ILH champs. Forget about States for now. I see the StL trending up. Also see Kahuku with a more stable Qb situation. Hell if Kini McMillan comes back, then even more interesting, but being out for 3 months is no guarentee on a smooth transition. Of course Jaron is the man. MVP Offense hands down.HS Football Fanatic wrote: Sun Oct 20, 2024 4:37 pm@Gridiron88: First of all, I prefer Kahuku High to St Louis School. @Markeke: In my mind, there's no doubt the Saints will be ILH champs. As for the OIA, I'd have to go with the Sabers, though it could be the Red Raiders instead. After all, the Sabers beat the Red Raiders by only 8.

WOW!!! What a draw for the ILH, this still does not make sene
Re: 2024 Football Season
Agree the ILH seems too out of touch to realize how dumb this looks. Private school - used to making up the rules to get what they want, i guess. STL clearly should own the bye, having won the first "round", and the other teams should be competing for the chance to play STL.

Re: 2024 Football Season
At this point, I don't think it matters who plays whom, when. The Saints' O is in turbocharge mode; they can both throw and run the ball very well, and they've got a thick O-line that just moves people out of the way, especially on run plays. They have a thick D-line, as well. Neither the Warriors nor the Puns can even touch the Saints. In fact, right now, I think only two schools have any chance at all of beating the Saints: The Sabers and the Red Raiders. The Sabers, because they have a kick-butt pass game and a decent D, and the Red Raiders, because they have the best D in the state. At this point, I'd be surprised if the Saints aren't in the State title game.
Re: 2024 Football Season
@HS Football Fanatic LOL, Agree completely. I not sure Punahou wants any part of this. For Punahou, this is like being forced to return to the scene of a crime where a rabid dog named "Cujo" just mauled them. And now Cujo is just sitting there waiting to give out some more. Yikes.

Re: 2024 Football Season
@RealTalk: Agree. I mean, the Saints' O kicked the Puns' D's butts every which way but loose, and for the Puns, their D is their strength. When was the last time a prep player had 258 yards rushing in a game? That's nuts. Frankly, both the Puns and the Warriors should just forfeit, already; call it a season. The alternative is to get their butts kicked. I'm not sure which is worse. I mean, the Warriors have a good RB in Melchor, but he doesn't have the O-line that the Saints have. Also, the Warriors can't throw the ball anywhere near as good as the Saints.
For the Puns and the Warriors, it's just one of those things. Cut your losses, hang-up the cleats, and let your players move-on to different sports. Both schools should aim to stop the Saints from repeating in basketball. If you can't beat 'em in football, try beating them in basketball; that's something to aim for. (Of course, the Warriors did beat them once in football, but it's not going to happen again. It's as if the Saints have a brand-new O, it seems; new and improved.)

@Gridiron88: If the Saints and Red Raiders meet, I want the Red Raiders to win, as I prefer Kahuku High to St Louis School. But, did you see the St Louis v Punahou game? Granted, the Red Raiders have a better D than the Puns; the Red Raiders' D is the best in the state. But, the Puns' D is no slouch, either; it's the strength of their team. The Saints' Lacaden still ripped-off 258 yards against them. And, the Saints can throw the ball better than the Red Raiders.

Gridiron, yes, I did. However, the Sabers can't run the ball the way the Saints can. Also, the Saints have a bigger and better D than the Sabers. Again, I want the Red Raiders to beat the Saints; I'm not so sure that they can. Right now, the Saints are throwing and running the ball very well. I never thought I'd see the day when the Saints would have a better run-game than the Red Raiders, but here we are. I mean, Lacaden had 258 rushing yards; what's up with that? And again, the Puns' D is no slouch. Their D-line got pushed-around by the Saints' O-line.
