Keaau is having a good season so far. Scoring Live hasn't updated this game yet, or the 8 man MIL game with Hana from last weekend.

Didn't Waiakea High lose to Hilo High 100-0, about two or three years ago?

I think the final score was 104-0. It was something like 84-0 at half. It might have been the 2019 season, so more like 5 years ago. I know it was before the pandemic started.

Waiakea alumni must (still) be ticked.

@DaLake818:

On a different thread on this message-board, BowTow said Radford High has size and numbers. They play Kailua High and its thick O-line, this weekend. I hope the Ram D-line has some of that size; they're going to need it. What surprised me is that the Rams lost to Moanalua High earlier this season. Radford alumni must be ticked; Moanalua High is Radford High's most bitter rival. I thought Aiea High was, but apparently not. Probably because Moanalua High is closer, geographically.

As an Aiea alumnus, this was my experience when I was in high school. Moanalua'a two rivals were Radford and Aiea, but Moanalua considered Radford to be the bigger rival over Aiea. Aiea's two rivals were Radford and Pearl City, and Pearl City was the bigger rival. Probably because Aiea and Pearl City were both good at baseball at that time, and often competed for the OIA championship and state playoffs against each other. Pearl City's two rivals were Aiea and Waipahu, and from people I know who are Pearl City alumni, they considered Waipahu to be the bigger rival.

@ChadFukuoka:

I think that since '74, Pearl City High has been the "official" rival of Waipahu High. Likewise, since '75, Moanalua High has been the "official" rival of Radford High. Finally, I suspect that Aiea High's "official" rival is Radford High, the reason being that Radford High is closer geographically than Waipahu High.

I thought Waipahu vs Campbell was the big rival. They used to (I don't know if they still do) battle for the "Cane Knife" trophy.

@BowTow: Yes, but that was before '74. From '74 on, Waipahu's archrival was Pearl City, as that was the year Pearl City had its first senior class, and therefore for the first time was "fully armed" (enrollment-wise) to take-on Waipahu in sports. Pearl City High was established to relieve the burgeoning enrollment at Waipahu High. Whenever something like that happens, the two schools each become the other's biggest rivals, because they are "geographic family" rivals. It's almost an organic, natural rivalry.

I'm a 77 Campbell grad and Waipahu was our big rival game.

@76SOUTH: That's probably a carryover of the Cane Knife rivalry, which had been going-on for years.
