Just my $0.02 on this mess, whoever (MW or PAC) flinches first...loses. Basically it's a very nasty public divorce. Safe bet it's worse than the WAC/MWC Divorce back in 1998.

I think Hawaii has languished forever under an inferiority complex. We keep axing successful coaches for perceived better coaches from 'better' conferences. The admins waffle to the program's demise. The smallest stadium in Manoa is still better than most of the former WAC or the MWC. It's in heaven. Students can walk there and most of the capital can as well. Certainly, visiting teams benefit from the proximity to Waikiki. Investing money in the former site won't boost interest in the program. Investing in the Pearl City location will help to move things forward. However, if we can't fill the current stadium...at an ideal location...it doesn't matter much.

Is it really an ideal location though? Sure, it's great for students, but parking is horendous. There's also no tailgating, no seat backs, and no cover from the rain. Its way too small and everyone is crunched together. Doesn't put a real gameday feel in the average fan. Going out to Aloha Stadium, and what I'm hoping for the NASED with it's entertainment portion as well, will create that big time gameday feel that has been lacking from this program. Of course it'll take some winning from the team, but it's a big part of the battle.

UH games are normally played at night...aren't they? Also, I always remembered Manoa as being a cool location...with mists rolling off the valley. When I was at school, they used to promote park and ride from Manoa/Waikiki areas to Pearl City. Kapiolani Community College was one of the send-off points. I wonder why they don't promote that parking lot as a tail-gating location? A shuttle to the school from there would be way easier than going to the old stadium location.

Anyway, it seems the state/school isn't doing enough to optimize the current location until the ultimate solution is realized.

Tailgating was part of the UH football experience! No tailgate less fans.

How about Cal Poly as member of the Mountain West? They were good enough for Tom Cruise as a shutdown corner in the movie "All the Right Moves."

Sac State has $35M NIL money guaranteed by businesses for potential joining of the PAC12 and they plan to break down rebuild their current stadium.

Actually don't mind UTEP.
Reminds me of 2002 game when Shawn Withy-Allen came in for struggling Timmy. Shawn's 1st pass of his career was an incomplete pass. But his next pass and 1st every completion went for at TD to Nasty Nate. UH 31 - UTEP 6 in the Sun Bowl

Is Texas Western going on a "Glory Road" to a national championship?
