Star Advertiser wrote:Akira Jacobs, who grew up in California and Japan and attended a program in Australia, has accepted a scholarship offer from the Rainbow Warriors. Jacobs will sign an agreement, and join the ’Bows this summer for offseason conditioning. He will have four years of UH eligibility.
Star Advertiser wrote:Marty Clarke, head coach of NBA Global Academy in Australia, praised Jacobs for his outside shooting.

“He has a good understanding of the game,” Clarke said. “He understands systems. He’s a quick learner. His biggest skill is his ability to shoot. At 6-8, he can play the three, he can play the four. He works hard. There are a lot of good things to like about Akira.”

Jacobs has dual American and Japanese citizenship. He will play for Japan’s 19-under national team in this summer’s World Championships.

Hopefully his year at the NBA Global Academy helped to develop his game. Looks kinda skinny and should physically develop under the programs at UH.

He has a nice layup left and right. Did anybody miss the double dribble in the highlights besides the refs? (About the 30 second mark.)

Thanks for uploading the game. There's good reason to be excited about Jacobs. He was the best player for the U19 team out of Japan. He has good court awareness on offense and knows where to go with the ball. Had some good threes along with a breakaway dunk. He needs to work on defense and blocking out more. The only other player that colleges might want to take a second look at is Yuta Wakayama(I think that's his name).

Yuta Wakayama is a professional soccer player. Might be thinking of Yuta Watanabe (who just completed his 6th season in the NBA).

I was trying to remember the names in the broadcast and I missed the name but after going through the part of the replay I thought his highlight was in, it was Kawashima. I was kinda getting bored by the third quarter because of the blowout. Kawashima goes strong to the basket and seems to have a good attitude.
