The Rainbow Warriors will sign cornerback Deliyon Freeman and hybrid end Domata Peko on Wednesday, the first day football prospects may ink letters of intent this semester. They also have secured a 2024 commitment from edge defender Tristan Waiamau-Galindo.

Peko, whose namesake father played 11 NFL seasons, is a 6-5, 215-pound senior at Calabasas (Calif.) High. Peko announced an oral pledge to UH in December, but did not sign the letter then because he wanted to visit the Manoa campus.

“I wanted to make sure I could feel the atmosphere and see where I’ll be spending the next years of my life,” Peko said.

Peko said he reaffirmed his commitment during last weekend’s visit and after meeting face-to-face with head coach Timmy Chang. “I got a feeling of how it is out there,” Peko said. “It meant a lot to me. That helped me pull the trigger on my commitment.”

Peko, who initially was set to delay enrolling until January 2024, now will join the Warriors this summer.

He's overhyped and definitely not his dad. No fuss on UH's side.

If it’s for a reason other than finding a more handsome suitor, that’s fine. Good luck.

If it’s because a P5 or more attractive school offered, he can take his “I am a hot girl” act out of here and try not to get hit by the door on the way out. This place is for Warriors - Warriors who commit to be in the Braddahhood. There is no “I” in “Team.”

Wait, you can just terminate a signed contract like that? Why haven't I seen this happen more often? I thought he'd at least have to spend a year here...

Hopefully the reclaimed 2023 scholarship is used to fill more immediate needs for other positions (for a ready-to-play OT or another flex TE/WR).

I think the entire SportsHawaii Ohana is hoping for a plug in and play OT. WSN dudes too. It’s one time where all UH fans may be unanimous.

I'm really disappointed by this again, I had just talked to his dad and he was super excited that Jr chose Hawaii but he just keeps flipping his decision. It's infuriating.
