Early signing period
I thought it went relatively well. Didn't get the OTs I wanted but the competition for them is always going to be fierce.

Re: Early signing period
Signed 6 DBs. If they pan out, some of the returnees are not going to see the field. But we got to play the best we got. I think Stone, Edwards and Manuma are locked in. who fills the other 2 positions? I would still like to see us get Kedren Smith from UPenn who made all-Ivy League
Leter-Laisene Lagafuania concerns me. I was hoping for great things from him but is he really 6'0" 319 when he supposedly was 6'4" 210 last year. If he is, the medical staff will need to do a really good physical on him before he steps on the field. Gaining 119 lbs in less than a year can't be healthy.
I counted 82 scholarships taken (could be way off) so it that is correct, so we can bring in 3 more in Feb. unless others leave.
I think we will have a much improved team this coming year. I hope all of the JC and transfer portal guys will be here for the spring semester.

Almost 100% certain that it's a typo.....and that Lagafuaina is still closer to 6-4 in height....but probably now weighs closer around 220-to-230 pounds....based on his photo posted in May 2022. https://twitter.com/coachtkmagalei/status/1524857034155233280Irse wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 5:39 am

Yep. Doesn't look like he's on his way to 300. Looks like a DE since TC talked about him being part of the DLine.kapakahi wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 6:45 amAlmost 100% certain that it's a typo.....and that Lagafuaina is still closer to 6-4 in height....but probably now weighs closer around 220-to-230 pounds....based on his photo posted in May 2022. https://twitter.com/coachtkmagalei/status/1524857034155233280Irse wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 5:39 am

Re: Early signing period
Tsai (or an SA editor) has to have misstated Lagafuaina's height and weight. Shrink 4 inches in one year and gain 109 pounds?

Re: Early signing period
With 3 departing TEs (Kamu Borden, Jordan Murray & Caleb Phillips) and only 2 returning TEs (Greyson Morgan & Devon Tauaefa) who both suffered season-ending injuries last season, figuring that Timmy's top recruiting priority for the Late Signing Period will be to sign at least 2 more (preferably JC and/or portal) TEs.

Maybe....but Fiso also hasn't always been available to play due to injuries.BigWave96744 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 9:32 amFiso not a TE?kapakahi wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 9:27 am

Re: Early signing period
How does early signing period work?
Is that the only day they players can sign LOI’ till the February signing period? Or can players still sign LOI’s till a certain date prior to February?
Thanks

Re: Early signing period
The early signing period works differently for different categories of student athletes.
High school 12/21 to 12/23
Midyear JC transfer 12/21 to 1/15/23
Portal transfer Might be 12/21 to 1/15/23
Grad transfers Might be 12/21 to 1/15/23
The regular signing period starts 2/1/23

Re: Early signing period
TC looking and sounding like a competitive HC now. I would have like to have seen one or two RBs in the list, maybe one with speed and another with bulk. But the battle in the trenches is looking pretty good for UH.
