I agree with the weight trimming. We see his highlight videos but it doesn't show his stamina. Can he play enough plays without coming out? Will he run out of steam in the last minutes of a close game? I hope they really condition the guys well during the summer and fall. Not only him but everybody.bigislandkurt wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 9:06 amYour point on bull rushing is valid. But I disagree on the trim weight thing. This is actually what we need for the interior d line. Gap integrity that we simply did not have with UH’s crew of light dline men. We had Blessman, and John too, but that was it. The lack of big, powerful dline allowed teams to pretty much have their way with us, especially early in the season. Teams with big, grinding offensive lines had field days when they played us. When your DB’s are leaders in team tackling, something is just not happening at the dline level. Based on his highlights, he plays well with his size. 330, sloppy slow and winded would not be good. Sauce does not come across as slow, nor sloppy. We need a fire hydrant in the middle.Palolo_2LA wrote: ↑Fri Dec 16, 2022 6:42 am He definitely needs to trim some weight, get better with pad level and using his hands bc bull rushing and overpowering everyone won't work at D1. Those are coachable.

He's kinda sloppy...if he lost 15-20 lbs or replaced fat w/muscle, that's best. What happens at the end of games with sloppy players? Hands on hips, tired AF and most importantly not preforming to capability.bigislandkurt wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 9:06 amYour point on bull rushing is valid. But I disagree on the trim weight thing. UHs OL IMO at least 3 of them, especially the OG and center were sloppy and lost steam as the game went on. Huge difference between good and bad gerth.

Sauce will be going through a D1 strength and conditioning program along with spring practice during the next 8 months before the first game next season. Whether he shreds weight or not, he'll be in better condition. He could lose fat while not losing weight and that would be great.Palolo_2LA wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 9:45 amHe's kinda sloppy...if he lost 15-20 lbs or replaced fat w/muscle, that's best. his mom looks like she can barely contain herself, so happy and so proud of her son. 99 tackles, 25.5 tackles for loss last season. just what we need on the d-line.kapakahi wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 7:27 am https://twitter.com/saucefrom210/status/1605565419992977409

So true. Hopefully John gets another year and with Sauce and Peihopa, we look pretty decent in the interior. Hope everybody can produce up to their potential.st808 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 12:42 amhis mom looks like she can barely contain herself, so happy and so proud of her son. 99 tackles, 25.5 tackles for loss last season. just what we need on the d-line.kapakahi wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 7:27 am https://twitter.com/saucefrom210/status/1605565419992977409

Valid point on conditioning and stamina. Counter point: I kind of like to see more rotations to keep guys fresh. It seems like the same big guys were playing last year. In some games, 1st half was competitive, and everything fell apart later. I would think Starter DT2 at 100% would be better than DT1 at 60% at the 4th quarter.

Unfortunately he was not here for spring practice or the off season conditioning program as I thought he would be. That could be a big factor in his early playing time.

Seems like he missed the first summer session, but the second summer session begins on July 3rd.

And the bar is connected to resistance bands which increases the effective weight as he does the lift.kapakahi wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 4:13 pm 495# twice....with no spotter....but also no lifting belt.

Sauce's quads are huge and he's built like a refrigerator.
Hope he learns the playbook, works on his stamina and gets on program since he arrived the campus later than expected.

He's got exactly one month before practice starts. Hopefully he makes good use of it.Palolo_2LA wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2023 10:14 am Sauce's quads are huge and he's built like a refrigerator.

Looks to have been under-recruited with the only other FBS offer from Utah State. May he turn out to be a gem!
