Re: 2022-2023 Wrestling Season
- I think Berger, Kusumoto, Taam, Porter, Kane-Keahi, Dikilato are head and shoulders above the rest at their respective weights - Totally agree
- 120: Buelow should be in the mix. - Definitely will be
- I wonder if Seson goes to 120 or stays at 126? - Seson at 120 is probably better overall for Moanalua's team, but individually better for him at 126.
- What weight does Lanford (KSK) go this year? 126? 132? - Probably 126
- What weight does Ka'aiali'i (KSK) go this year? 145? 152? - I'm guessing 152 since they were strong at 145 already, but he might want 145
- Now that Mercado is at 152, I think Tabar (Pun) will be tough at 160. - Probably, but was hoping to see him at duals

Re: 2022-2023 Wrestling Season
I just meant that placing top 3 in half the weights is a tall order. I hope im wrong tho cuz im a OIA fan and would love to see Kapolei or Moanalua take home the team title.talloola25 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 9:52 amYou're not wrong, but I didn't say they were #1, just the most top3 guys. I think KSK has 9 potential placers for state. But which of Kapolei's guys do you not believe are top 3? 5 were officials finalists and only have lost to the champs if they've lost. Shimabakuro beat Sekulich(pun) as well.808WrestlingFan wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 7:59 amI think you’re too high on Kapolei. They got whooped by Ksk. Not likely they have that many top 3 compared to ksktalloola25 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 31, 2022 5:39 pm
Based on Official's, Moanalua, and other results here are who I believe to be top 3/4 in each weight:
106 Berger(StL), Ramos-Semana(KPO), Guevara(MIL), Bicoy(PC)
113 Kusumoto(KSK), Suan(StL), Holokai-Basa(BAL)
120 Lau(MPI), Frias(IOL), Corpuz(MIL), Del Rosario(LAN)
126 Sekulich(PUN), Shigemoto(MIL), Shimabukuro(KPO)
132 Labuanan(KSM), Kimrua(MIL), Salter(KSK)
138 Taam(MOA), Woolsey(KPO), Silva(KSM)
145 Porter(WAN), Cobb-Adams(StL), Paaluhi(KSK), Grilho(AIE)
152 Mercado(PUN), Goeas(CAS), Erolin(P5)
160 Honbo(IOL), Tanaka(KAS), Wailhehua(KSK)
170 Shields(KLH), Pagurayan(KPO), Young(WAN)
182 Baekkeland(MOA), Pinales(KPO), Tanele(CAM)
195 Kane-Keahi(LAH), Kahele-Akeo(KPO), Raymond(LEI)
220 Salangdron(KPO), Setu,(WAP), Kaumavae(MOA)
285 Dikilato(KSK), Coelho(LEI), Lauifi(WAP)
KPO - 7 top 3, KSK - 5 top 3, Mililani - 4 top 3, MOA - 3 top 3, StL - 3 top 3
In the dual against KSK they went 5 and 9 in wrestled matches without 4 starters including 2 top 3 guys(which would have made it 7-7 in wrestled matches). I also think KSK will have another top 3 when Lansford gets back. I think it's shaping up to be a great tournament come the end of the year. Honestly pretty exciting with St. Louis and Moanalua's line up taking shape as well.

Oh yeah, totally get that. This wasn't a prediction, just my current rankings based on performances up till now. My predictions would be a little different808WrestlingFan wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 11:25 pmI just meant that placing top 3 in half the weights is a tall order. Is Tabar wrestling this year? or injured? Haven't seen or heard about him this season
Can't wait to see how the season plays out after the wrestlers become eligible for their desired weights!
Talloola and 808wrestling keep the info coming, your insights help us look forward to potential great match ups!

Re: 2022-2023 Wrestling Season
Hunter wrestled at 113 for the duals. Other than that, Kusumoto has smoked everyone else at 113. Tabar wrestled at 152 for Officials I believe and placed 3rd.OldManJenkins wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 8:33 pmI thought Kusamoto got beaten?? is Hunter the 106?talloola25 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 3:18 pm - I think Berger, Kusumoto, Taam, Porter, Kane-Keahi, Dikilato are head and shoulders above the rest at their respective weights - Totally agree

Matches to look forward to this weekend? ILH Duals are finally starting and OIA round robins are getting back under way. ILH won't be on track, so have to have eyes at the event lol. Any takers?

Kaaialii(KSK) just pinned Mercado(PUN) in the third period. 4-4 until that point

Wow! The ILH has Kaaialii, Mercado and Erolin at 152, they will only make each other stronger. I wonder if Goeas has anyone to push him?talloola25 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 6:23 pm Kaaialii(KSK) just pinned Mercado(PUN) in the third period. 4-4 until that point
Did Pun or KSK wrestle Erolin also?

No, but Erolin bumped to 160 and wrestled Honbo(IOL) who got 2nd at officials (losing to Mercado 4-2) and beat him 12-4OldManJenkins wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 10:52 pmWow! Not a ton. Looks like a lot of starters were sitting out in the OIA. Adrian Lee was in action and beat Steiner Tanaka(KAS) by fall. I think Ramos (KPO) pinned Estabillio(MOA)...Not sure what else808WrestlingFan wrote: ↑Sun Jan 08, 2023 6:34 am Thanks for the updates. Any more notable matchups from this past weekend?

Re: 2022-2023 Wrestling Season
@talloola25: Thought I'd "unretire" again and jump-in here, since no one else did yet. One of the famous Lee wrestlers' siblings, Victoria, whom I believe was also a great wrestler, passed-away. She was only 18, and had graduated from Mililani High just last year. This is a terrible tragedy, and I wish to send my deepest sympathies to the Lee family. May you please find strength and comfort during this difficult time. This is also a blow to Mililani alumni, as she was so young. I mean, she had joined the family of Mililani alumni just last year.talloola25 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 07, 2023 12:26 amWhat happened with the Lee Ohana?OldManJenkins wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 10:55 pm I wish the ILH converted to Track so we can follow....
