Re: 2022-2023 Wrestling Season
Moanalua Duals start in two days. Looks like 21 boys teams are signed up right now including one from Tennessee. Looks like they will have 4 pools of 5 teams each. Here's my best guess for top seeds of each pool.
Tennessee, Kamehameha, St. Louis, Kapolei.... But Moanalua could easily be one as well based on Official's tournament results. I think there will be a champions and a consolation bracket on day 2. Here are my picks for Champions bracket in no particular order: Tennessee, Kamehameha, St. Louis, Kapolei, Moanalua, Punahou, Mililani, Pearl City
Duals are always exciting and can have pretty interesting results. Looking forward to it!

Any good matches from Moanalua duals? Hunter beating Evan must have been a good match. Any other notable matches?

Uneventful. Taam controlled match and won comfortably.OldManJenkins wrote: ↑Sat Dec 31, 2022 1:45 pmHow was Woolsey Taam rematch???808WrestlingFan wrote: ↑Fri Dec 30, 2022 10:01 pm Any good matches from Moanalua duals? Hunter beating Evan must have been a good match. Any other notable matches?
Porter(WAN) bumped up to wrestle Mercado(PUN). Mercado won by fall after Porter got gassed. Good match until that point though.
Pagurayan(KPO) bumped up to wrestle Baekkeland(MOA). Pagurayan won by fall
Dikilato(KSK) wrestled Coelho(LEI) and won again
Cobb-Adams(StL) over Paaluhi(KSK). Late reversal for the win
Mercado(PUN) over Kim-Cadiz(PC) by fall
Kaniho(KAH) over Creech(StL) by fall
Seson(MOA) over Sekulich(PUN) 3-2
I'm sure there were a lot more, but those stuck out.
Kamehameha beat St. Louis in semis, Kapolei beat Moanalua in Semis
Kamehameha beat Kapolei in the finals. Some very entertaining duals for sure

Looks like they got the 2lb allowance. Who’s switching weights now? Any potential matchups that couldn’t happen at officials and duals?

I think you’re too high on Kapolei. They got whooped by Ksk. Not likely they have that many top 3 compared to ksktalloola25 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 31, 2022 5:39 pmBased on Official's, Moanalua, and other results here are who I believe to be top 3/4 in each weight:808WrestlingFan wrote: ↑Sat Dec 31, 2022 3:14 pm Looks like they got the 2lb allowance. Re: 2022-2023 Wrestling Season
You're not wrong, but I didn't say they were #1, just the most top3 guys. I think KSK has 9 potential placers for state. But which of Kapolei's guys do you not believe are top 3? 5 were officials finalists and only have lost to the champs if they've lost. Shimabakuro beat Sekulich(pun) as well.808WrestlingFan wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 7:59 amI think you’re too high on Kapolei. They got whooped by Ksk. In the dual against KSK they went 5 and 9 in wrestled matches without 4 starters including 2 top 3 guys(which would have made it 7-7 in wrestled matches). I also think KSK will have another top 3 when Lansford gets back. I think it's shaping up to be a great tournament come the end of the year. Honestly pretty exciting with St. Louis and Moanalua's line up taking shape as well.

- I think Berger, Kusumoto, Taam, Porter, Kane-Keahi, Dikilato are head and shoulders above the rest at their respective weights
- 120: Buelow should be in the mix. I wonder if Seson goes to 120 or stays at 126?
- What weight does Lanford (KSK) go this year? 126? 132?
- What weight does Ka'aiali'i (KSK) go this year? 145? 152?
- Now that Mercado is at 152, I think Tabar (Pun) will be tough at 160.

Re: 2022-2023 Wrestling Season
You won't see AS MANY people changing weights this year with the 2 pound allowance. With the rule change, a wrestler must still make scratch weight at least once before they can receive the 2 pound allowance this year. It will still be interesting to see which ones will drop though.808WrestlingFan wrote: ↑Sat Dec 31, 2022 3:14 pm Looks like they got the 2lb allowance. Who’s switching weights now?
