Don't think Matlin would allow that. Not sure JJ would want to do it anyways.Arcumfortis wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 7:43 am My hope is that TC can offer a role to JJ with the team and he accepts. If JJ is not too soured with UH to even consider it and if UH is not to soured with JJ to allow it I think it could work. There comes a time in life when you want to step back from the day to day details of running a program and just focus on what you want to do. The HC has many admin hassles to deal with on an ongoing basis. JJ is now an elder - he should have a role as an elder - an adviser - a football wise man who can mentor TC and have the freedom to creatively develop offensive schemes that will shread defenses - and not spend his time worried about day to day running of a program. We have been through a messy time and it’s now time to heal and move ahead. It would be a great loss to the program if there is not an emeritus role for JJ. In my view that is the right role for him and I hope there is enough wisdom and maturity all around to make it happen.

Not bad at #18 but we did have the #1 last year. Wouldn't mind him back but he's long gone.

Wow, I can't believe they brought in Timmy Chang. I'm not opposed to him being a head coach, but would have liked to see him work as an OC at a D1 school first. Whatever the case, I wish him luck and hope for the best.

This video brings an interesting point that a lot of us have been saying bringing back the Culture and Traditions. He makes good point that there are not many 70 year old Nick Sabans out there, but Hawaii Football Nick Saban is June Jones!!!! And that scared Matlin and Lassner! They wanted a puppet after Todd Graham hiring. I support Timmy and just like the video states that Steve Sarkisian could be the next Nick Saban leader/influencer at Texas. But so, could Timmy Chang build himself up to that level of Hawaii version of Nick Saban, who knows?
I have no doubt that Timmy will attempt to bring back the culture and traditions that he had when he played for the Hawaii Warriors Football Program. But he is going to have a leash around his neck by Matlin and Lassner for a while about football related peripheral decisions like marketing and other things.
