There’s 9 minutes left in the 4th, so Kahuku should coast to a title.HS Football Fanatic wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 9:19 pm Hey; how much time is left? Scoringlive says the 4th qrtr has just begun? You sure you didn't throw-in the towel too early, genks?
Re: Open/D-I Top Ten 2021
Good thing St. Louis didn't play Mater Dei as originally planned. That game would've made St. Louis's game against St. John Bosco years ago look like a nailbiter. Kahuku would've given Mater Dei a much greater challenge.

Why is the clock stopping on incomplete pass? Its35 mercy rule?
Re: Open/D-I Top Ten 2021
The trend continues--only twice has a team with three or more losses won a top-level state championship since 1973.

I think there is no mercy rule for state champs.
Same thing happened in Lunas game.

Not everyone is a Kahuku fan, but you gotta feel good for them. And if I were a Kahuku fan, I'd dedicate this championship to Kona Schwenke, Pele Leiataua, Tommy Heffernan, Sr., Waika Carvalho, and David Vimahi. All cherished late members of the Kahuku ohana.

1993 St. Louis and 2007 Leilehua.
I remember 1993 because that was the year four ILH teams tied for first. And who could forget the heroics of Andrew Manley?

Oh yeah, I remember the 2007 Leilehua team. Manley was truly magical, and he was a backup too.gopunahou wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 9:58 pm1993 St. Louis and 2007 Leilehua.

How did the tiebreaker work for the 1993 ILH tie?
Re: Open/D-I Top Ten 2021
In 1993, all six ILH teams played each other twice. There were two rounds of five games. St. Louis finished with the best record after the first five games, edging Iolani, who had the same record but lost to St. Louis. We finished with the best record throughout the last five games and beat Kamehameha, who finished with the same record as we. I would've loved it if a playoff existed back then, but there were 10 games. We wound up playing St. Louis for the ILH and took a beating, being that we suffered a ton of injuries prior to the game. The 1993 St. Louis was also their worst team of their 14-year dynasty. It was the closest they came to not winning the Prep Bowl/state championship during that span. Iolani, Kamehameha, Punahou, and St. Louis all beat and lost to each other once during the regular season.ChadFukuoka wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 10:23 pmOh yeah, I remember the 2007 Leilehua team. Re: Open/D-I Top Ten 2021
The long layoff really hurt St. Louis. You could see it last week against Mililani.
Re: Open/D-I Top Ten 2021
Final 2021 Top Ten,
1.Kahuku 10-0 2021 Open Division Champions.
2.St.Louis 6-4
3.Mililani 5-4
4.Kamehameha 3-3
5.Iolani 11-0 2021 Division I Champions.
6.Lahainaluna 7-1
7.Campbell 5-4
8.Konawaena 6-1
9.Aiea 4-3
10.Waianae 3-5
Kudos to all the players, coaches, and teams for getting through a season with Covid a constant threat.
I’m picking Kamehameha-Maui over Kapaa in the D-II championship final next week.
I have some reservations about all prep sports going forward. Covid continues to spread and basketball games and tournaments have been canceled. I think it is possible that the DOE is going to lockdown winter sports as this current spike continues. There will be other variants after Omicron and the next spike could see a postponement of fall sports in 2022.
Spring sports might be Ok and fall in between the current spike and the one to come after.
