Oddly, Rolo is ranked 39th on the 'hot seat'. It seems there are much worse coaches in cfb. USC is good...no matter which coach is there. Wazzu, on the other hand....

Not looking good for the coach
The Monday After: Nick Rolovich is cooked
After only seven games, it’s already clear this is not going to work.

In a remarkably efficient “achievement” unparalleled in perhaps the entire history of Washington State football, it’s taken Nick Rolovich all of seven games to completely burn to the ground everything Mike Leach built in his eight successful years.

The tear down almost certainly was complete sometime before Saturday, but when the Cougars collapsed (again) by fecklessly surrendering 45 unanswered points to USC, it was the final manifestation of a reality that is undeniable at this point.

The Nick Rolovich era already is over.

There's been a lot of negative articles about Rolo but he's managed to retain the head coaching position despite negative editorials about his vaccination status and the performance of his team. Oh yeah, and he being sued by a former player for the PAC-12 alliance last year.

https://www.foxnews.com/sports/washingt ... ax-mandate
Washington State football’s Nick Rolovich and four assistants are out of the program after failing to meet a mandate that required state educational employees to receive the coronavirus vaccine by Oct. 18, the school said.

Rolovich, Ricky Logo, John Richardson, Craig Stuzmann and Mark Weber were not in compliance with Washington Gov. Jay Inslee's proclamation on state employees getting the vaccine, and the sides began the "separation process" based on the terms of their contracts.

Maybe he did it virtually since he's unvaccinated.
How do we know that the AD request he leave without having a meeting?

Rolo is the only coach in the Pac-12 who chose not to be vaccinated. The whole story about WSU has not been about their running back or DeLaura but its been about Rolo and his stance regarding being vaccinated. Selfish on his part.
https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/No- ... 544383.php
After the JJ news release about his exemption it became more of a distraction as you can see in the interview where Rolo pleads to his audience about how he wishes nothing like this happens to his players. Boohoo for his situation that he created. :-({|= Thank God UH is all about football and not the Coach.

People are 100% free to choose if they want to work somewhere. I refuse to judge anyone that decides they don’t want to participate in a job because they disagree with the employer. He made his choice. I don’t need to understand his reason or whether it makes sense. This isn’t complicated. And JJ shouldn’t be the one to talk. He made his choices too. He gets to make those too.

From ESPN. Fahling is Rolo's lawyer
Reached Wednesday morning by ESPN, Fahling declined to elaborate on the accusations beyond the statement, which states that Rolovich, after being fired, was escorted to his car by university police and was not allowed to address the team.

You could see that coming.
Would like to see how this would play out without a settlement. Unfortunately, they will probably settle.
Did he get the exemption or not? Was it a matter of accommodation? Is he really a devout Catholic? Was he a member of a Catholic church up there? Did the fact that he did not abide by the conditions of being unvaccinated play a role in his rejection? Plenty of questions.

the fact that he was "no comment" from the very beginning makes me think that suing was his goal all along.

It will be interesting to see what the lawsuit says. Is seems problematic for government agent to be making a determination as to validity of one's religious beliefs. Do they look into the sky and summon God for the answer?

And I don't get the timing of this. He was waiting for an exemption --- the answer was no and you are fired. Shouldn't it be we denied your exemption for XYZ reasons --- you can supplement or appeal your request or reconsider your position before we fire you.

If he is a devout Catholic and the Pope recommends vaccination as an "act of love," one would think that he would follow his religious leader's recommendation. This would set a bad precedence in Washington with Governor Inslee and the rest of the Washington administrators for any kind of settlement. There have been a lot of policemen and firemen that have lost their jobs in Seattle because they were not vaccinated.
