Interesting that this is the first football matchup between the two schools. They played each other a ton of times in basketball in the 90s, when both schools fielded strong teams.

Yep, and Sam Pittman doesn't want to play them again. HAHAHAHAHAHA.

South Carolina Saturday. First SEC Game.

Arkansas secondary prepared to shuffle if needed

The Arkansas defense could be without two of its top players this weekend in Jalen Catalon and Myles Slusher. While dealing with injuries is never idea, the Razorbacks feel they are better equipped to handle the situation due to the depth in the secondary and the cross-training they've done throughout the offseason.

Junior defensive back Khari Johnson has gotten quality reps in practice at multiple positions. Johnson started a game at cornerback for the Hogs as a true freshman in 2020 and has run with the first-team defense at safety in practice this week while Jayden Johnson moved up to the nickel spot.

"I think he had about half the spring at safety, and then we moved him over to corner," Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman said. "I think covid taught us a lot about interchanging defensive backs, offensive linemen, things of that nature, to be prepared if you have some injuries.

What Channel is Arkansas South Carolina on?

Following a 31-24 win over Cincinnati in Week 1, the No. 16 Arkansas Razorbacks will take on the South Carolina Gamecocks inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium as they begin SEC play. This will be the 24th meeting between the two programs, and Arkansas holds a 13-10 advantage in the all-time series.

"Looking forward to starting SEC play," Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman said. "South Carolina played an extremely good game, especially in special teams. Scored basically three touchdowns on special teams. And they have a veteran team. Lot of seniors. Well-coached. And they are hot, right now, and have been for the last half of last year. And that certainly started this year. So, we’re excited to get started. We know we have a really good team coming in here, and we’ve had a good week of preparation."

Kickoff between the Razorbacks and Gamecocks is set for 11 a.m. (CDT) on ESPN.

1-0 SEC to Start the Season

Post by HawaiianHogster »

Man, oh man. Two hard hitting games to start the season out with 2 wins. I'll take a win any time or anyhow. It doesn't matter if they looked good or bad doing it. I really like our running game as well as our passing game. I believe they will continue to get better. What I'm concerned about is our injuries. Two of our best players on defense out. One is out for the season and not sure about the other one yet. This after we lost two starters to LSU through the transfer portal. Even though the Hogs are beat up I believe they will have their chances to win in the SEC. As long as the offense can continue to score more points than their opponents, they going to win every time. LOL.

Missouri State is next. Petrino is their head coach. He was Arkansas's head coach before being fired after a motorcycle crash, got him in a lie. The AD fired him for it. Glad that AD is no longer with Arkansas. Anyway, Petrino will be coming to Fayetteville with victory on his mind. I bet he's been working overtime planning/scheming on it for a long time. After Saturday's great upsets of Notre Dame and Texas A&M, I'm like, no way we look past Missouri State. Best not.

My prediction is Arkansas takes the win to go 3-0. It will be another hard-fought game that will depend on the Hogs offense to score allot. Win time of possession and make long drives that end in TD's. I believe our defense will give up some plays here and there but will figure it out and make stops at important times. I'll give the Hogs a 3 TD favorite. Go Hogs Beat Missouri State!

Squeaked by with a win (3-0)

Post by HawaiianHogster »

What in the world did I just watch tonight? My sister said she didn't recognize that team on the field with the Razorback on their helmets. I second the motion. Talk about having a bad game. HOLY COW! That was the worst game, in my opinion, they have ever played since Sam Pittman became the head coach. Worse than the Georgia game by far, from last year.

Missed assignments, fumbles, interception, 3 and outs, no blocking, no tackling, no throwing good passes, unable to catch the ball, and penalties. WOW! To win a game like that having your worst game nightmares flash in front of you. PHEWWWWWWWWWWW! I'll take the win. Like I said before I'll take a win no matter how good or bad, we look doing it.

If they play like that our next 4 games, we won't win. I'm still shaking my head like, was this a bad dream and I will wake up tomorrow and see a larger win with TDs in every quarter? LOL. Next up Texas A&M in AT&T stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

More Razorbacks

Post by HawaiianHogster »

The Razorbacks, being down 17 points and not playing well, slowly gets their act together and pulls out an 11 point win. That Bobby Patrino had Missouri State ripe for an upset. Remove those two fumble's and the Razorbacks go up 14 more points.

This works out great that the Razorbacks had a bad game the week before the Texas A&M game. Now that that's out of the way they can focus moving forward.

The Razorbacks are 6.5 point underdogs. I couldn't have asked for anything better. Sam Pittman loves the underdog card. Hopefully they got their bad game played out of the way and rips the aggies apart. It should be a good game to watch.
