Business is business. College football is not just a game. Anyone can be replaced.

Any chance UNLV throw tons of $$$ at Rolo? UNLV is still in Nevada. Rolo knows the state of NV. No income tax, etc. So double bonus? Dick Tomey never wanted to leave Hawaii, but the opportunity was just too great.. You can not turn down some offers.

I hate being a fear monger but UNLV has a lot to offer NR. A new stadium, new athletic facilities, NFL coming to town, a decent recruiting class this season, Hawaii residents, transplants visiting LV that might take in a game, a foothold in the MWC for all sports teams, and if you look at the picture of the AD in the article on the UNLV sidelines (someone that rolls up her sleeves unlike Matlin). This would be hard for NR to pass up, imo.

I hope Hawaii dodges a storm cloud.

However in the article, I silently think to myself of far more (greater) calling cards NR brings, than what the writer described in the article.

Nicks wife is a local girl, does she really want to uproot and move back to the state of Nevada?

Nick has 4 young kids, does he want them raised in Hawaii or Las Vegas?

Nicks coaching staff, especially Banker, loves living in Hawaii. Would they follow him?

Does Nick really want to consistantly achieve Phase 2 and eventually Phase 3, or does he want to go back to Phase 0?

May depend on the $$$$$$$$$. For enough $$$$$$, he and the Mrs. may be able to put up with leaving Hawaii.

LV can bout bid anyone because money is free. Money talks, like how they built the 3rd straw to suck all water out of the lake. What water problem? NA when you got $$$. Rolo is smart enough to know that there is no love or loyalty in football. Sometimes is better to leave when your stock is high. Phase 3 may never come. Recall how they toss out Wagner. WAC and Holiday bowl champ

At some point Rolo will have to sit down with his wife and determine when is the right time to uproot the family and step away from Pride Rock.

True going to the mainland will no doubt offer more money. But this is true for any profession, that's why many have relocated to the mainland, never to return.

On that note, one can only remember a time when people would say that if Chris Petersen stayed at Boise State, he would have the keys to the city and be financially set. But 5 years after leaving Boise St he is burnt out and stepped down. The article below details the grind of college football coaching and echos the song "Everything that glitters isn't gold"
The grind of college football coaching has claimed Chris Petersen, and it's only getting worse
By Dennis Dodd
...
Burn out is occurring at an increasing rate. Since June 2017, Bob Stoops, Urban Meyer and Petersen have left their jobs at the height of their careers. All of them cited -- in one way or another -- the difficulties of enduring the day-to-day.

They left rather than continue to face the grind. Sure, they can fall back on an income that may well make their grandchildren millionaires, but that's not the point.
....
At Washington, Petersen went to work at one of the most beautiful, well-resourced campuses in the country. With him in control, the Huskies were going to keep on winning.

But at least on Monday, that wasn't the most important thing in his life.
