And the pick is getting good reviews by all the “experts”. It’s a big deal for us to get a defensive player drafted in the top of the 2nd round. I wonder when the last time a UH d player was taken so high? Hope he crushes in the NFL!

Re: Jahlani Tavai picked in 2nd round
Although we're known more of an offensive school, Tavai has become the 5th 2nd round pick on the defensive side of the ball since the start of the JJ era.
Also drafted in the second round were David Veikune and Ikaika Alama-Francis.

Very surprised when I heard his name in the second round. I always thought third round at the highest. He’s gonna have to stop arm tackling and wrap up when he tackles.

I am surprised but know that Detroit got a winner. I may become a Lion's fan. Roar like a lion Tavai. You are the new Simba who will become King of the defense.

Tavai is a mainland kid, but does he like the "cold?"

Yup, I was surprised too that Jahlani went in round 2. I was thinking 4th or 5th rounder. Kudos to Jahlani!EITSwarrior wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2019 8:30 am Very surprised when I heard his name in the second round. I always thought third round at the highest. I think that Jahlani Tavai's best season was his sophomore year, then his junior year he was put into a strange defensive alignment that no one understood, then his senior year, he played hurt before the season started. He still played a hella game at San Jose. I'm glad he played for UH and proud of his accomplishments. Second round was about right for what he's about to do for the Lions.

That reminds me of Al Noga in some ways. Awesome as a So, and Beast as a Jr. National attention. Then he was moved from outside to middle as a Sr. And was always double teamed. Noga looked less effective at the middle in his Sr. year.

I hate the Lions.
Wow...2nd rounder. Good luck JT!!!!
Hopefully, you'll be traded to a winning team.

Re: Jahlani Tavai picked in 2nd round
I've not pay attention to Lions since Barry Sanders. But I like to think that's a good thing JT is with the Lions. Something big is about to happen, I hope.
Look at Green Bay for example, we heard nothing from them since Superbowl 1 & 2, then they got this guy name Favre. And Green Bay has been on the map since.
Not saying JT will be the answer, but in 3-5years, could be part of something special.
