DT Aaron Faumui in the Portal

Post by Irse »

https://twitter.com/DarrenHernandez/status/958818246336987137 .
Stephen Tsai wrote:One of the state’s top players — Aaron Faumui of Kapolei High — told the Star-Advertiser he has accepted a scholarship from the Warriors.

Faumui cited the Warriors’ “family” atmosphere as a large factor in his decision. He also received offers from Virginia, Florida, Wisconsin and Oregon.

Faumui played on both sides of the line. He is projected to play the 3-technique on UH’s defensive line. He had 20 tackles for loss and 14 sacks last year, according to Kapolei coach Darren Hernandez.

“He plays with a nasty streak and has a good motor,” Hernandez said.

Faumui’s uncle is Taase Faumui, a former Farrington High and UH defensive end who played in the NFL.

This is big. Faumui was a silent commit and I was just hoping it would hold up. Very quick for an interior DL with lots of upside.

Added a lot of info on him to the OP.

Awesome news! Thank you for staying home Aaron. By the looks of his tape he could start on day 1

Sounds great! How does a guy like Faumui stack up in comparison to someone like Kennedy? Comparable? Better?

Scout.com gurus saw him play live every practice during the Poly Bowl week. In their re-ranking of the top 2018 in-state recruits, Faumui ranks top 5. So yes, this is a big deal.

Feels like it's been a long time since UH landed multiple respected in-state recruits.

Yes -- an OIA recruit.

Last year mainland dt recruits were more impressive on tape imo.

Hopefully Faumui plays defense.

Tulimaesalii is where the discussion starts with the experts. They talk about the quickness of both. Faumui may not as big coming out of high school.

Thank you for choosing to stay home. Things are looking good for Warrior Nation! All that needs to be done is to put that pen to paper and sign away next week!

Fingers crossed. I don't really care for the State of Florida due to alligators and snakes (especially after Hurricane Andrew), bull sharks, aggressive barracuda and humongous man-o-war, fire ants, killer bees and other insects that inflict severe pain and injury, and its location smack dab within hurricane alley.

Heard Virginia made a strong push late in the game. Come one Aaron, rep the home team :hello1:
