stanford game water issue
stanford game water issue
the last time the u.h. played in the middle of the day, there were no water fountains, vendors ran out of cold water, and many fans were dehydrated as a result. the stands were empty as fans crowded under the bleachers in the shade. fortunately, I brought sun screen that helped ward off sun burns. shared it with seat neighbors.
wonder if the u.h. will allow fans to carry in water for the Stanford game that is basically going to be played under the hot summer sun? this time I'm planning to bring several frozen water bottles and looking on-line for compact personal misters to keep cool during the game. anyone have any experience with personal misters?
I sit in front of the student section, so, maybe I'll bring extra tubes of sunscreen and make some friends who want the lubed protection against the sun.

How about some shaved ice? The Strawberry hard ice in a dixie cup with a wooden spoon at a little league game.

Don''t have any experience with misters but won't it make things more humid since you'll be adding moisture?st808 wrote: Tue Jun 10, 2025 4:29 pm the last time the u.h. played in the middle of the day, there were no water fountains, vendors ran out of cold water, and many fans were dehydrated as a result. the stands were empty as fans crowded under the bleachers in the shade. fortunately, I brought sun screen that helped ward off sun burns. shared it with seat neighbors.

Misters by themselves do a decent job, but they have to be paired with fans to be really effectiveIrse wrote: Tue Jun 10, 2025 7:25 pmDon''t have any experience with misters but won't it make things more humid since you'll be adding moisture?st808 wrote: Tue Jun 10, 2025 4:29 pm the last time the u.h. played in the middle of the day, there were no water fountains, vendors ran out of cold water, and many fans were dehydrated as a result. the stands were empty as fans crowded under the bleachers in the shade. fortunately, I brought sun screen that helped ward off sun burns. shared it with seat neighbors.

teams use them on the sidelines so the humidity shouldn't much of a problem. looking at battery operated misters with multiple spray nozzles coupled with a fan. most product reviews note a 8-10 degree drop in the misting zone. want to order one this month to test. hoping to use the melt from the frozen water bottles I will carry in to make the mister even cooler.Irse wrote: Tue Jun 10, 2025 7:25 pmDon''t have any experience with misters but won't it make things more humid since you'll be adding moisture?st808 wrote: Tue Jun 10, 2025 4:29 pm the last time the u.h. played in the middle of the day, there were no water fountains, vendors ran out of cold water, and many fans were dehydrated as a result. the stands were empty as fans crowded under the bleachers in the shade. fortunately, I brought sun screen that helped ward off sun burns. shared it with seat neighbors.

Imagine fans in SEC country reading this
I didn't go to the Florida or Alabama games but I heard brutal stories of heat and humidity during Sept.

I know. I watch their afternoon games in the morning here and marvel at the stamina of the crowds. but, I am sure they have enough water fountains, stations and bottles for sale to make it through the game.BigWave96744 wrote: Thu Jun 12, 2025 2:16 pm Imagine fans in SEC country reading this![]()

that last home game hawaii played in the early afternoon was made worse with the lack of water.
unlike the sec, we are below the tropical zone of cancer and the sun's angle at noon is going to be brutal for the august game.

I was at Walmart last night see some portable fans with mist nozzles and I thought about this thread so I bought one, it seems ok, but will see if it last lol
Re: stanford game water issue
bought a portable battery operated 8" fan that will run for two hours with an intermittent water mist. going to need two to get through the game. tried it last night and it seemed to work, but that was indoors and I am still not sure about it working outdoors in the sun. might pick up the hand held portables as backups if I can find one that lasts more than two hours on intermittent misting. plan on buying samples now, trying them out while I can still hit the return deadline on amazon.
monday makes two months until kickoff.

I went to the Sam Houston, Texas, game against Hawaii in August 2024. It was humid and hot, so I had a Texas hot experience. Three large Diet Cokes with plenty of crushed ice did the trick!

good suggestion. it would provide my wife with the shade she needs from me standing to block the sun.Walkoff Balk wrote: Sun Jun 22, 2025 1:38 pm Japanese hand fans aren't just for bon dances. Buy the ones the looks most sturdy. The cheap ones broke easy,
