Re: NBA Thread 2024-2025
I was wondering why OKC didn't play the two bigs at one time in the first game and in the second game they did. I still think SGA is taking just a skosh too many shots in the game and they need to swing the ball around. This way when he does need to score, there wont be multiple defenders on him. Then multiple times when the Pacers went to the line, they had Caruso on the inside trying to screen out the big man as well as get the rebound. I'm sure they had longer players in the game to block out during the free throws. Maybe the OKC coach doesn't have full control of his players. I'm surprised too that so far SGA is really a poor interview. Okay, the first time they interviewed him before the first game, it was an inscrutable question but you think they would keep the players alert to those questions and have pat answers.

Surprising that the number of viewers decreased after game 1 of the finals from 11M to 8M. I guess both are small market teams but for basketball sake, they're great games to watch.

Re: NBA Thread 2024-2025
I watched the third game of the finals and I guess I looking at OKC to win but, it's either the coaching of player maturity is missing. I saw the foul that McConnell drew driving to the basket and looking at the replay, I would have issued a coach's challenge because McConnell hooked the defensive player with this left arm while driving to the basket. If not to win the challenge but maybe light a fire under the team. It seemed early on that the Pacers were going to full court press early on and OKC was throwing the ball away too many times. One inbound play was when Holmgren was almost at half court and it was intercepted. Another was when Caruso threw right into the arms of McConnell as he was right in front of him. And the lack of blocking out by OKC resulting in offensive rebounds tells me that they are just taking the Pacers too lightly or not playing as a team.

Re: NBA Thread 2024-2025
After watching the fourth game of the Finals, I couldn't help thinking that they may need to improve the broadcast team. Okay, Richard Jefferson played 17 years in the NBA but he may not be seeing the same things as the viewers. There was a foul on an OKC player where he was pushed while in the air and Jefferson said this should have been a no call only to have Doris Burke chime in and say he was pushed. Then there was the first flagrant foul where Jefferson said it's a Finals type foul not a flagrant and I was thinking, geez, he made no attempt for the ball and did a downfield block. Of course there's the usual Mike Breen call where its the Pacers ball out of bounds but it was really OKC.

If OKC wins the Finals, I hope Jalen Williams gets the MVP. He's better at getting to the bucket than SGA. Rick Carlisle is the X-factor for the Pacers. He just seems to call the timeouts at the right time, put in the right players and just got the Pacers all coached up.

Re: NBA Thread 2024-2025
Seems like the OKC is missing a head coach. Couldn't believe the playing of OKC in the sixth game of the Finals. Three straight times in the first quarter, SGA drives from the right side of the bucket and either falls or stumbles and loses the ball. Can't they see that the whole team sees he's going for the bucket and not going to pass off? And, why does Wiggins do a turn around three pointer when he is only accurate facing the basket? Why is Caruso just jogging to close out on Haliburton's three pointer? Half time, then changed the station.

If OKC loses Game 7, Mark Diagneault is history. No reason to me why they lost the series.wyokie wrote: Fri Jun 20, 2025 7:49 am If the Thunder screws up and loses Game 7, I'll die laughing.

Re: NBA Thread 2024-2025
Wow, OKC has absolutely no offensive game plan. It's like give SGA the ball and watch him either score or lose the ball or miss the basket. The Valkyries are on at the same time as the Finals and the Valkyries have a better offensive game plan. The one saving grace for OKC is if they can take advantage of the loss of Haliburton.

I think if the Pacers keep Rick Carlisle they should reach the mountain top eventually. In fact, I think he'd be a great candidate for the next USA MBB team in LA.

The Cinderfella story of the Pacers struck midnight as the basketball turned into a pumpkin of a hot potato.
