They both need to swallow their pride and merge already ( for BOTH to thrive and survive!). It'd would be a 16 team (football) conference. You could have THE PAC Eastern Division ---Northern Illinois, Washington State, Boise State, Wyoming, Colorado State, Air Force, Utah State and New Mexico. And THE PAC Western Division --- Oregon State, Nevada, San Jose State, Hawaii, Fresno State, UNLV, San Diego State and UTEP.

It's more than swallowing pride. Combining the 2 will mean 1 commissioner & staff will lose their job. Just like when the Star Bulletin merged with the Honolulu Advertiser

IMHO, it'll be a shot-gun wedding like they have in the Deep South.

I honestly think it will happen. Just when is the question.

Starting with the 2026-2027 academic year, the Mountain West will feature the United States Air Force Academy, University of California, Davis, Grand Canyon University, University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, University of Nevada, Reno, University of New Mexico, San José State University, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, University of Texas, El Paso and the University of Wyoming.

UC Davis will compete in 16 conference-sponsored sports. Women’s sports include basketball, cross country, golf, indoor and outdoor track and field, soccer, softball, swim and dive, tennis, and volleyball. Men’s sports include basketball, baseball, cross country, golf, outdoor track and field, and tennis.
