UH Wahine Volleyball 2024

U of Cal State Bakersfield has that annoying volleyball blue court. It's similar to the blue football field of Boise St. that's uneasy to me eyes. The announcer for the match like to read the same bio for the players of the UH Rainbow Wahine team.

Kate Lang and Tayli Ikenaga deserve a lot of credit for staying after The Big West cancelled the 2020 women's volleyball season.

UH has clinched a bye in the Big West tournament. They play UC Irvine who has to win to get into the tournament. UC Irvine is the host of the Big West tournament. UH get chance to be in the NCAA tournament with a 20 wins regular season record as an at large choice. Also, it helps that UH can bring fans to a NCAA tournament site as a non-hosting team plays in a match.

Cal Poly was down two regular starters. But, UH had to play a five-set match against UC Davis that UH won only by two points in the fifth set. Cal Poly won their semifinal match in three sets and had three hours rest more in a back to back days match.

It was a blessing in disguise when a key outside hitter transferred at the last minute. That made Hakas and Adeyemi get more playing time. Both players improved as the season progressed.

Guersching had the height, but possibly due to her previous injuries that plagued her throughout last season she never really panned out.

There are still UH Wahine fans that still think about this sport at 30 years ago. UH along with other west coast schools such as Long Beach St., UCLA, and USC aren't in the top ten anymore. Long Beach St. is an UH equal program, but UH has done much better since. Stanford has kept their excellence. But, Stanford dominates in most women's college sports. UH hasn't won the national championship since they played in Klum Gym.

Free agency has hit women's college volleyball. You can't blame them for weighing their options. But, the last two transfers who went to a big conference. Guersching and Leonick spent most of time at their new school on the bench. They didn't improve their skills without playing time.
You probably don't have to worry about Alexander going to a bigger school and starting.

You can't be upset that Alexander is in the transfer portal. She accomplished being the Big West Player of the year and starting on three conference titles already. The previous Big West Player of the year from U of Santa Barbara transferred. That's why give Amber credit for being extremely loyal for staying at UH for her senior year.

Alexander will have to "Show Me" in the state of Missouri.

U of Missouri is trying to even the trade from college basketball. UH got Stephen Jankovic and Webster Chan from U of Missouri. It resulted in UH going to the NCAA Tournament and a win in the first round. They got Dru Buggs from UH.
