NEXT QB - Shager Was Exposed

Post by Palolo_2LA »

We all know what #13 brings, and he's not going to improve, so why not give John his opportunity? In many ways he's responsible for the loss.

If #16 or # 12 can't make better plays then what we've seen from #13, TC needs to reassess his evaluation of QB talent. Ironically, #13 is similar to TC, who was wildly inaccurate.

Here are common mistakes/misques by #13;

- 3 delay of games for a Sr QB!!!!! (Unacceptable as a Senior QB with so much experience)
- Bad awareness - got leveled bc he's standing up tall as he's leaving the pocket (again shouldn't happen to a guy with 4 yrs of experience)
- Interception bc he's forcing the ball (in one series in the first half he threw to Pofele 5 x. Are you kidding me?)
- At times seems to be going through the motions - in the read option, hands ball off as RB is getting hit
-overthrows
- rocket balls
- underthrows
- terrible pocket presence at times

This is contract extension negotiation year for TC, after this year?. Is he going to gamble on a guy who has played 3 years or someone who played 3 minutes? I'm 100% in support of letting #16 or #12 play/start next year.

Like it or not, BS13 is the best option. Is he a good QB, yes, based on stats. I will agree that R&S is not his cup of tea. I though BS13 look the most impressive with Todd Graham. Whatever offense that was, it was the best fit for BS13.

Imagine if there were less dropped balls. Imagine if there was a WR2. WR2 can't play now. CM13 had Ward and Byrd and 3 other guys that can catch.

If BS13 does not play, and Timmy Chang does not reach 0.50, he may not have a Year 5. (Assuming they let him have a Year 4 to finish the contract).

Granted, Schager played on a sprained ankle. But he was kept in the game gimpy and was almost wildly inaccurate as well as immobile. JKS must not be very good, or trusted, if he can't come in and give Brayden a breather every now and then.

So who's fault would that be under? HC. What if BS13 did TP out? Who will be the starting QB? Freshman 1 or Freshman 2? Coach Jake Farrell? If they needed another QB to give BS13 competition, real competition, where is he? That scout team QB UH just got may really be QB2 because he got the most IRL game experience.

#13 did look better in the RPO offense....but not much better. He consistently handled the ball off to the RB as the defender was hitting the RB. That tendency hasn't changed.

I guess it's bc #13 has tons of experience, but John has a cannon for an arm and is more of a cerebral player. We're always obe play away from QB2 entering the game.

You bring up a good point about Shager leaving. My assumption is they would have been forced to find NIL money for a seasoned QB. But, why not do that even after #13 returned?

Hawaii lacks the NIL budget. Look at ppl like Paiva went to Vandy from NMST and got huge NIL. UH going have to sell plenty smoke meat, portage sausage and Zippys chilli to build theNIL budget. Lol.

Throwing away a game is a problem, right?

Didn’t say it wasn’t a problem. I’m saying this reaction is.

A lot of good points here but as we saw from Bruins a mobile quarterback can do a whole lot of damage. Having a quarterback with a flat tire is just going make him a sitting target. I had actually thought that they would given him a rest after getting injured. It would have given them more time to look at his injury. Watching UCLA going after him was brutal. You hit any quarterback enough and it will affect his accuracy and timing. I thought that early on in the game that he was moving, sliding in the pocket. Doing a pretty good job. I just wonder why they did not take him out after he was injured . Coach Dan has said that we have 4 that can play. I don’t know but if Timmy thinks that he is way ahead of the other QBs I would have saved him for conference play.
Not doubting, not hating, not loving, just hoping because I am a fan.

🌴“WELCOME HOME COACH”🌴 :hello1: Go get’em Timmy :hello1:

Good points...I've said in the past when we had bad blocking by the OL that it would matter if we had Montana back there bc without time and getting nailed takes a toll.

I understand that. I would focus more of my frustration on the playcalling rather than on the players.

Do you rather have DJ Uiagalelei with his high salary cap? He has the physical measurables. But he's not a consistent accurate passer.
