Big honor and a great experience for Jacobs. And he's the youngest player on the team at 20 years old. Bolds well for his future both as a Bow and on the Japanese international/Olympic teams.

If Akira Jacobs plays great next season. Will he get offers from the bigger conference schools?

Whoa! What the..., It's unbelievable. Steph Curry hit some long rainbow shots that end up in a pot of gold.

Re: akira jacobs olympics 2024
olympic basketball this year was so good it was crazy, it was so 'storybook' that it felt like it had a script and was written out. the last two USA games were ridiculous, bogi was playing lights out in that semifinal and everyone on serbia was hitting their three's off of the jokic pick and roll building an almost unsurmountable lead. took monumental O and D by USA to scratch back that comeback in the fourth quarter. the final was ridiculous as well, with the close game being closed out by curry going unconscious at the end. The younger USA guys stalled out in these final games, but the old dudes (lebron/durant/curry) came in did everything they're famous for to carry when they absolutely needed to. I thought it was interesting too how yabusele and cordinier on france were giving all the teams fits all the way to the finals but against USA, they looked just regular.
in that japan v germany game, I was suprised how they barely ran the pick and roll with hawkinson because they were living off of that set in the qualifiers. I think they ran it twice in that game and it got two easy buckets. the heavy diet of iso with hachimura up against solid defenders theis/wagner didn't seem optimal, if he were available against brazil, I think that would have worked much better there.
next, japan should have won that game against france. with that lead and the amount of time left, it was a mental error to do anything but a no-foul contest of that 3. The p&r with hawkinson was super efficient and hachimura was lights out that game before getting that double technical. it almost felt like they were trying to hide that set to target france with it.
finally that brazil big felt like was just too big against japan, shooting turnarounds like no one was there.
akira did good, and played some good minutes, looking forward to some UH basketball this season.
if you haven't watched any olympic basketball games, I'd say the top 3 to watch is the USA semifinal, the USA final, and france vs japan. I don't pay for too many streaming services, but coughed up bucks for peacock to watch almost all the games haha. my month of peacock is almost up, time to cancel!

Re: akira jacobs olympics 2024
One thing I really wanted to watch was Akira Jacobs on Team Japan but I was too cheap to pay the $8 for one or two games. My favorite on regular NBC has to be the gold medal round last three minutes for Team USA. The highlights don't show Curry's 5 turnovers and first 3 3-pt misses but you gotta love the finish. He went 4 for 4 in the last three minutes.

The most amazing athletic performance has to be the Dutch marathoner, Hassan who won the gold but then they say that she won a bronze in the 5000 and 10,000 meters. Just amazing.

Sad that Akira went from Japan Olympian to UH bench warmer with little to no development in Ganot's offense. I anticipate that he should enter the transfer portal and find a better team fit.

I saw this coming with his lack of playing time. I thought that this past season would be his breakout year. There was hope he would return because he wouldn't get offers from the big schools with N.I.L. money because of a great season.

good luck to him wherever he goes.
Re: akira jacobs olympics 2024
Sad that Ganot could not find a way to utilize his talent and find a fit. Ganot's offense is stale and unimaginative.

Re: Akira Jacobs transfers to Fordham
Is this a step up or a lateral move to Fordham University? When an ex UH basketball player transfers to a bigger conference. They sit on the bench like Drew Buggs and Justin Webster.

I think this is a good transfer for Akira. Being in NY, he'll be able to experience a whole lot more than he did in Hawaii. Even if he doesn't play a whole lot, he'll get exposure to a whole lot more. Maybe even check out Rucker Park when there's a game on or maybe even play in one.
