Friday August 16

Kauai has a home game against Viewpoint High from Calabasas, CA.
Punahou has a home game against Sierra Canyon High from Chatsworth, CA.

Friday August 23

Kamehameha will be in Downey, CA to play Warren High.
Lahainaluna has a home game against Valley Center,CA.

Saturday August 31

Kailua is in the Polynesian Classic against Coronado HS,Henderson, NV. Game site is at Liberty’s stadium also in Henderson,NV.

From what few results I can find from schedules so far, it appears that the OIA is sticking with last years pod concept. So there will be two pods each containing three Open teams and four D-I teams. More blowouts on the way I guess.

Update. OIA released league schedules and the blended Open/D-I pods are gone. So Open and D-I teams will not play each other unless they take on a school from another division to fill out a 9-10 game regular season before playoffs.

Radford travels to Washington to play Skyview HS in Vancouver on Friday,September 6. The Storm were 10-2 last year.

Hawaii schedules are slowly leaking out. With limited data available to this point, it seems like division reshuffling in the OIA will see Castle going down from D-I to D-II and Pearl City going up to D-I from D-II. There is not enough information for me to determine if any movement is happening between Open and D-I.

Update. Per the StarAdveriser,Waianae and Moanalua go down to D-I. Waipahu and Farrington go up to Open from D-I.

Very hot that time of year, but possible. Direct flight, lots of food and hotel, I'm booking.

Kahuku will visit defending national champion Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas on Aug. 16. The Red Raiders also had an arrangement to host national powerhouse Mater Dei (Calif.) on Sept. 14, but those terms were agreed upon under former Monarchs coach Frank McManus. Since then, Mater Dei replaced him with Raul Lara, though they’re hopeful the game on the North Shore will proceed as planned.

Meanwhile, state runner-up Mililani will visit Los Alamitos (Calif.) on Sept. 6.

Another one of Hawaii’s top teams will take on a California power when Punahou hosts Sierra Canyon on Aug. 16.

Elsewhere in the ILH, Kamehameha will host Mission Viejo on Aug. 17 before heading to Southern California to face Warren the following week, which boasts four-star quarterback Madden Lamaleava [who recently committed to UCLA].

In Michael Lafaele‘s first season as Farrington’s head coach, the Governors will have four home games in August including California’s Rancho Mirage on Aug. 23, as well as Tafuna High School of American Samoa the week before.

Additionally, multiple Maui teams are set to host SoCal competition as Lahainaluna will play California’s Valley Center on Aug. 23, while Kamehameha-Maui plays host to Beaumont on Aug. 15.

Kahuku-Bishop Gorman.

Gorman’s offense is as stacked as Kahuku’s defense. The Gaels defense is pretty good ,too. That seems to put the onus on Kahuku’s offense to keep the Red Raiders in the game. I think the Red Raider O has to improve a lot with only a few days of practice before next weekend’s game in the desert.

Kamehameha-Mission Viejo

Mission Viejo is loaded on offense and a pretty stout defense. Kamehameha managed ten points in a win over a good D-I opponent. The Warriors are going to need more than ten points to outscore a team that,if it were based in Hawaii, would be in the Open division.

Punahou-Sierra Canyon

This might be the most competitive of the interstate contests coming next weekend. That said,I’m not sure this Pun’s squad can hang with Sierra Canyon until the clock runs out. The good news is that Punahou seems to have two QB’s who can start.
