The young guys - Sonny, Tali, Malachi and Dean will all have an opportunity to get some PT bc of the lack of depth at DL...I'm excited about Teo, but UH is stacked at LB.uhwarriors wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 10:59 pm Of all the incoming Freshmen, he might be the one ready to contribute. It would be a big plus if he can due to the lack of depth at DT.

New DT/NG coach Jeff Reinbold
Is Malachi Finau still on the team? I don't see any pictures of him during Dline drills.

He's buried on the depth chart. Needs to work on his quickness because he's quite lumbering.kapakahi wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2024 6:40 amFinau is still on the team.@nedzusername wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2024 6:21 pm

Re: 2022 SJBosco Malachi Finau DL signs
Had a breakout game creating interior pressure on 3rd down passing situations. Woulda had a strip sack on the Fresno State QB in the 1st quarter IF not negated by the bogus penalty (Fresno State TE initiating the contact with Kema).

This kid has been getting some burn and producing. It's interesting that they'll play him inside and on the edge. He was whipping the OG from UNLV. Literally manhandling him at game.

Malachi Finau
Just saw Malachi Finau's name in the TP!

Re: DT Malachi Finau DL in the portal
3rd scholie DT in the portal (in addition to Evaimalo & Washington)....in addition to departing 2 scholie senior DTs (Anthony Sagapolutele & Sauce Williams)....totalling 5 scholie DTs lost...

The Dline room is really thin, should they move Briski back to Dline ( or switch Sotelo to defense)!?kapakahi wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2024 4:30 pm 3rd scholie DT in the portal (in addition to Evaimalo & Washington)....in addition to departing 2 scholie senior DTs (Anthony Sagapolutele & Sauce Williams)....totalling 5 scholie DTs lost...

Re: DT Malachi Finau DL in the portal
With starting LT DeCambra also in the portal, Briski is probably slated to compete with Christian Perry to be the new starting LT so doubtful that he'd be switched back to DT.
Sotelo's leg injury might keep him out of Spring Ball so unlikely that he would be switched from his LG position with only 1 season of eligibility left....Judah Kaio is the only other returning OG with any playing experience (now that Maurice Ta'ala is done).
While the DT position has obviously taken major hits through the portal, the OL depth at all positions isn't in great shape either (with no JC or portal OL signees thus far).

It’s an impossible situation to keep a team together with these rules. Can’t fault the players for going to make money but it’s really just crazy. What I don’t understand is the players transferring to lateral schools. It’s one thing if they are getting P4 looks

Not good enough to play for Hawaii? San Diego St welcomed him. Good luck with the Aztecs
