One thing that I don't think gets talked about enough is the upside of not having to play McClanahan. Pick & roll just hasn't worked well with him at the point because his height makes it difficult to make teams pay for helping on the pick by hitting the 5 rolling to the basket. We fall behind on the shotclock and the ball spends too much time in the backcourt. The coaches finally accepted this and switched to Munoz starting a few weeks ago. The injury to Jovon has made this even more clear.

It's interesting how even though Munoz is only a few inches taller than Jovon, he's able to hit Da Silva on the roll at least a couple times a game, and it keeps the defense from doubling the ball without fear. Even Kody's quick first step to the basket creates a better passing lane and makes the offense a bit more effective. Jovon is like a short QB who needs to get outside the pocket to be effective, but is being schemed out of doing that by the defense.

UH misses an energizer guy in Beon Riley. He would crash the board for offensive rebounds, dive for loose balls, and take the charge foul.

You have got to think. Ganot entered a program that was classified as mediocre WAC under Riley Wallace. They turned into a division II NCAA AA program. Big West Conference. UC Davis, UC Riverside, these teams are below the WAC standards. Entering the NCAA March madness. Is Ganot going to leave Hawai'i?
