Jacob Yoro making a case for job retention last two weeks, especially last night with a show-stopping, triple option-stopping game plan and team execution.

All the fans that thought Timmy and his coaches would outcoach the Wyoming coaches was smoking and drinking something that isn't legal!

Wyoming showed class by not running up the score and putting in the backups in the 2nd half. They had to rotate the starters in when Hawaii started to drive and score. It gave the illusion that coaching adjustments were made by Timmy and Yoro. Timmy and the coaching staff looked lost all game... most of those timeouts was because of poor situational game planning.

I don't think anybody is getting let go until after the Colorado State game.

- If Hawaii wins against Colorado State then most of the assistant coaches will still have a job.

- If Hawaii loses against Colorado State then some of the assistant coaches will still have a job.

- If Hawaii has a blowout loss against Colorado State then few of the assistant coaches will still have a job.

I think Timmy will get 1 more year because Hawaii needs to save money on the buyout. But his okole is getting 3rd degree burns on the hotseat.

Bringing back Mark Banker as DC would be awesome.. But come next week Rocky Long may be available since Dino Baber got fired today at Syracuse
Rocky Long, an innovative defensive mind who brought the 3-3-5 defense to prominence, was hired as Syracuse's new defensive coordinator on Dec. 18, 2022.

Long - who boasts nearly 50 years of coaching experience, 20 of which came as a head coach at the FBS level - will take over a Syracuse defense that has finished in the top-30 nationally in total defense in back-to-back seasons, running the defensive scheme that he made famous.

Long's tenure spans over four decades, and includes highlights such as being the winningest head coach in Mountain West Conference history, the winningest coach in New Mexico history, and amassing the second-most wins of any coach at San Diego State and four 10-win seasons, including a stretch of three-straight, in his nine years at the helm of the Aztecs.

Look, the make up of this whole stew goes back to the untimely firing of McMackin...and then the release of two AWESOME coordinators by the Uncle. The Uncle then hired two of his aging buddies to 'fix things'...and we endured years of Chow Ball. The Von Appen Uncle presided over a very similar era. The current situation doesn't have the same feel. Hiring Rocky Long would. Hiring Rocky Long would be similar to the re-hire of Dick Tomey. Tomey was a great hire for SJSU, but didn't make sense as a third wheel for Hawaii in his final coaching role.

I wouldn't change anything.

When they say Norm Chow was coming home (to Hawaii), I never bought that. Home for the Chow family was never in Hawaii. California is where home is. The last dance for Dick Tomey was Hawaii. If we look at Football, Tomey is still the most successful HC in Arizona (modern) history. I don't know all 100 years of history. And yet they chase him out of town because he could never be invited to the Rose Bowl. Although Arizona is doing good this year, had successes, they still never smell the Rose Bowl. IMO, at SJ state, the (old) Tomey lost some of that fire that make him great. Hawaii was Dick Tomey's home when he spent his best football years on the mainland.

That's something special about Hawaii some often forget. When the aloha spirit touches you, you feel it in the land, air, and water. Some "haoles" (foreigners) are more, can be more Hawaiian than Hawaiians.

On the above, I'll say it, who will be after Timmy Chang? I got a feeling UH will go back to that old Formula, instead of selecting a candidate from left field.

Wagner became HC after Tomey left. Mac became HC after JJ left. After Chow, they gave the keys to Chris Naole. The past HC hiring has been a circus and PITA for UH Admins. It's easier, more stable, to promote someone to HU.

After Mac, we can all agree it could have been either Rolo or Rich Miano (agree or disagree). After Rolo it could have been Stuz, or Brian Smith. (I know both left with Rolo, but I felt get chance to bring them back with a HC offer.)

So who on T-Chang's staff you guess would be for the next HC?

Yup. Yoro almost single handedly put himself back onto the firing range.

Yoro went from defensive hero to defensive goat (not GOAT) in one minute of play. Then things got even more worse thereafter.

eff Reinebold is the wide receivers coach at Southern Methodist University, a position he assumed in 2008. His coaching career has spanned almost three decades, and included stints at Western Montana College, Dartmouth, Rocky Mountain College, and the universities of Montana, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Louisiana Tech, and Hawaii. Much of his career has involved working with special teams and includes spending 12 seasons coaching professional football in the CFL and NFL Europe.
I think this resume is a bit dated...he's coaching in the CFL now, right? Dude is 66 years old and far removed from Hawaii. June Jones brought in a lot of old-timers that contributed to the revival of Hawaii football. I loved McMackin, but I wouldn't recommend hiring him now. Chang, Yoro, and Sapolu are the right kind of connection to Hawaii that is needed now.

The conference leaders are UNLV and AFA. We put up a fight against both of them. We've got leaders on offense and defense that are sophomores and transfers. They ball but are not a team yet.

Our coaching decisions are something else. We made a good decision in rehiring Rolo to continue the momentum JJ and Mack started. After Rolo left, we fired TG after our team leaders, Muasau and Cordeiro, followed Rolo to greener pastures. Graham was a good coach but he had no connection to Hawaii. The hire of Chang is something else altogether.

Brother, you need to get updated on the information that you post. I know you had a man-love for Coach McMackin through the years since he coached in Hawaii, but you'll have to let him go. Coach McMackin passed away this year in February.

Hmm...I didn't know or I forgot. Good lord...so many have passed these past few years. His former boss, Mike Leach, passed just prior to that. I'm so sorry that you can't recognize the contributions Mac made to Hawaii football. It's also a bit jaded of you to throw in the 'man-love' moniker to advise a fan of the coach's passing. I only recognized his contribution to the program. Yes, I think Mike Leach and McMackin would contribute much more to our program than a lifetime 'apprentice'.

Reinebold has a house in Hawaii. Lucky you live Hawaii. I guess? Still, I don't know if we need a special teams coach. Marshawn Lynch owns a house here too. Why not him? We definitely need a running backs coach.
