It’s a great day in Red Raider Nation. Just knocked off the defending national champs as a few national polls have it. Fortunately, good sportsmanship was displayed by both sides in the end after a few chippy moments. Fans on both sides had the restraint to stay in the stands. Well played.
Campbell takes a step up from middle of the pack to real contender for a koa trophy.

I'm gonna be honest, I kinda expected Saint Louis to lose against Mililani as their defense showed to be severely underwhelming, however I was blown back at how their offense performed and have been performing lately. I believe they have two All-American tackles and all starting five O-lineman have offers, they got wide receivers UH commit Jr. Titan Lacaden and upcoming D1 prospect So. Jordan Nunuha, they also have a solid running-back in Keola Apduhan. After watching the game, I gotta say this new quarterback has shown to be pretty disappointing...I hope they can turn this around for the ILH as Punahou is also coming into the season with a shocking loss...but idk at this point St. Louis' coaching has just shown to be not competent enough to turn this season around. Really hope this isn't another rebuilding year for the Crusaders...the coaches and that starting QB gotta step up.TheNewNORM wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 9:49 pm This week

Re: High School Football 2023
As thing stands right now, an OIA team's got a better chance of winning states in Open than an ILH one. Only once has the OIA won three consecutive state championships at the highest level (2005-2007).GentlemanOfTheLou wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 2:17 pmI'm gonna be honest, I kinda expected Saint Louis to lose against Mililani as their defense showed to be severely underwhelming, however I was blown back at how their offense performed and have been performing lately. Right was wondering too about Nunuha. Gentlemen of the Lou is right. St.Louis O line may be the best in the State. The rest f the offense need to catch up. Punahou vs.Kamehameha this weekend will be interesting.
Re: High School Football 2023
It was reassuring to hear Coach Kia emphasize the need to eliminate penalties and turnovers. I hope that emphasis produces results. We’ve got the talent to beat Kamehameha and have already done it at their place. We are also facing a team that’s itching to pay us back for the 62-point loss we handed them at home last year. I hope this year’s team rebounds from the Campbell loss the way the 2008 team rebounded from a lopsided defeat at the hands of St. Louis, which was our only loss that year.TheNewNORM wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 7:46 pmRight was wondering too about Nunuha. Re: High School Football 2023
I don't think Punahou will have a problem beating Kamehameha. The Warriors are 4-0, but hardly tested. This will be their first true test and ultimately the first game that really counts. I believe their limitations in the passing game will hurt them in the long run against better opponents. In their games so far, they have been more physical than their opponents and gotten their way with the run game. Punahou will not allow that to happen. The Buff will have a ton of urgency walking into this one and I feel win decisively.

Re: High School Football 2023
The ranking of Kahuku at #9 MaxPrep is a good thing for Hawaii. Even if Kahuku wins States with a unblemished State opponents, I can only see a one point climb in national polls.
The other benefit of course is a Hawaii team beating them. I'm surprised Campbell is not at least in a top 100. In two weeks Campbell plays @Kahuku. A win of course will be great for Campbell program and ranking.
Then you have Kapolei and Mililani waiting in the OIA playoffs. After that probably Punahou in the States. Not saying Kahuku will win it all, but will probably be favored. Just saying. What will be exciting is watching the different teams and coaches plan against the RR.

The Waianae game and the way they struggled that night makes me think they ain’t all that.University Ave wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 9:17 am I don't think Punahou will have a problem beating Kamehameha. Kamehameha-Punahou.
Punahou still has all it’s goals on the table. It can afford a non-league loss and still win the ILH Open and get to Open states. In a three team league, you really can’t afford to lose to the other two teams if you want to compete for a state title.
Punahou has a very stingy run defense which I believe will dull Kamehameha’s best weapon which is the run.The Warriors secondary is a little too generous giving up passing yardage which helps Ty McCutcheon and his receivers.
Punahou should win but there’s a disclaimer attached.
The loss to Campbell showed that Punahou can’t overcome penalties to win against a good opponent. Punahou has to clean up the penalties or they will be playing catch-up in the ILH.

No.2 Campbell @ No.9 Farrington.
Campbell’s run defense is even better than Punahou’s
and I think is good enough to bottle up Sitani Mikaele and the Govs ground game. Farrington is a little leaky on pass defense and the Sabers should take advantage of that.
I think Campbell wins.

Really tough loss for Damien, as I feel their pain since they lost in a matter we did last week. Taking a huge early lead and watching it vanish.
Reality is that I doubt that neither of these teams will topple Farrington or Waipahu for the D1 title. As the score indicates, both defenses need massive improvement to stand a chance against either Farrington or Waipahu.

Lafaele ain’t suiting up for Farrington tonight. Gives Campbell a much greater chance of winning than they already did.

Re: High School Football 2023
The final score of that game tied a state record for most points scored in regulation. St Louis beat Iolani 77-42 a while back. The Lahainaluna-Konawaena 7 overtime state title game in D2, where Lahainaluna won 75-69, was the highest scoring game in Hawaii history. I also remember since that 7 overtime game took so long, the Open division game between St Louis and Kahuku didn't start until around 11, and finished after 1 am. I was at that game.gopunahou wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2023 6:21 pm Iolani 63 Damien 56 F
