Anyone expect anything but a blowout against Oregon? That being said I have questioned since the Stanford game is where is the screen game, where’s the shovel pass? One of the best things JJ did was take some advice from Bill Walsh and implement more short passing game/West Coast offense concepts into the RNS which was very evident in the Brennan years. I don’t know if they’re just not calling it, they haven’t even installed it yet or they’re not comfortable doing it with the current personnel.

I haven't seen much RnS so far this season, the Oline needs help.
Timmy probably is realizing that he needs to hire Stutz as OC for next season. Shoes offense is offensive to the Hawaii Fans.
One name: Craig Stutzman for Hawaii OC.

watched the colorado/csu game. hawaii needs to watch out for csu's henry blackburn who hit colorado's hunter with a vicious late hit. seemed as if he was proud of his late hit that took colorado's main offensive threat out of the game.
should have been ejected.

Re: Hawaii vs. Oregon Game Thread
To offset a pass rush, stretch the field horizontally and force LBs to cover faster RBs and slots they need to become proficient at screens, swing passes, shovel passes and draws. That is the only way to counter teams that have a pass rush, teams that rush three and drop eight and teams that have good DBs. Inexcusable. You have to force teams to defend those plays. If you don't your QB is at risk to all out pass rush and blitzes. If these plays haven't been installed and perfected then it is poor coaching.EITSwarrior wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 5:09 pmOh I agree they should try it. Defensively we are stout in the middle. We are exposed on the edges. a lack of a pass rush, blitz packages have no creativity and big time exposure over the top because of slow and poor safety coverage. Where are the safeties on deep throws? No support and out of position for any effective coverage.
Overall game planning and play calling (Timmy calls the plays) has been despicable. Our first two losses were due to penalties (9 for first downs), special teams (poor punts and KO for TD), poor defensive field position and poor prep, decisions and play calling by the coaches. Oregon was just a mismatch from the get go.

To give Morris a shot, would UH need to fire Timmy Chang? And bring in Ken Niumatalolo? Kenny is not busy. Morris is a consider a "triple threat" QB. From the highlights, it looks like the ball zips out faster than BS13, and Morris got better legs.

Why is everyone surprised about the out come? We were expected to lose by 38 points. I have always said this team needs another Nacho Libre type running back and a drop off pass. I believe it would've kept us competitive in the Sugar Bowl. We are too predictable. Our quarterback favors the bomb. Everyone knows this. We have talent. We need to exploit it.
With all that said. I am worried about our upcoming league play. League competition withered against the big boys, but didn't break. We broke. Still, we did okay against Vandy and Stanford.
(I did catch the first half on-line)

100% true.
1+1 = 2 no matter if that was taught at KCC or Stanford. The team believe they can win, everything single game. Otherwise, no sense in playing or even be on the team. Fans believe that too. We saw how Chaminade beat Virginia. So get chance.

Aside from Timmy, all other offensive coaches are learning the RNS, which according to many takes 2-3 years to learn. 3 guys that could bolster this offense with RNS experience are :WarriorTyme wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 4:14 am I haven't seen much RnS so far this season, the Oline needs help.

Re: Hawaii vs. Oregon Game Thread
Agree that this is not the run and shoot that we came to expect. I've been waiting for a breakout game like Cole McDonald had against Colorado State in his first start, and that was the run and shoot. Granted Schaeger is not Cole, but wasn't McDonald an option quarterback in high school?

"Rolo Style" of RNS was sort of RPO, no?

Re: Hawaii vs. Oregon Game Thread
I don't know how good Hawaii is this season, because Vanderbilt just lost to UNLV, Stanford lost to FCS Sacramento State and Hawaii got there okoles whooped by Oregon. The same Oregon that barely survived to beat Texas Tech, the same Texas Tech that lost to Wyoming. I think 4 wins might not be achievable with this years team, but always get chance for the opponent to give away a game or two.
I think this years team is about the same or maybe a little worst than last years team. I don't think they will get the win against NMSU. I think it will be another Albany game but without the win.
I'm already looking at next season for Brian Smith or Craig Stutzman for OC. Recruiting for Oline has to be top priority.
