Re: Possible frosh QB addition to Spring roster
Looks like he got lots of good offers, so why would he come to Hawaii as a walk-on? Then the parents got to pay for everything.
Re: Possible frosh QB addition to Spring roster
possible injury maybe?

Not definite that he's a walk-on....just speculation thus far.cabanalane wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 6:42 am

If you Google his name, it shows on Nov 2022 he had profile on the UH roster. The url has since been deactivated

https://greaterlongisland.com/former-pa ... nd-hawaii/Former Pat-Med star’s sons commit to playing quarterback at Ohio State and Hawaii
BRIAN HARMON | JANUARY 20, 2023
Former Patchogue-Medford football star Rich Gebbia reports that his two sons have signed on as quarterbacks with two big-time college football programs.
Gebbia, a folklore hero of sorts in Mississippi from his days as a tight end for Ole Miss football, said his boys Tristan Richard, 24, and Dylan, 19, have officially committed to playing at Ohio State and Hawaii, respectively.

As a standout signal caller for Bishop Alemany High School in California, Dylan Gebbia garnered scholarship offers from Ole Miss, Maryland and Colorado State, among other DI football programs in 2021-22. He committed to UCLA last February but didn’t play this fall.

He has some distinct capabilities - touch, anticipation and can scoot. His throwing motion is way shorter, but he reminds me of a poor man's Cole MCD.
Be humble and confident in yourself and all things you do.

Worth a flier, definitely needs to work on his in pocket footwork and throwing motion. Was hoping we would get a power 5 transfer QB to compete for the QB job.
Re: Dylan Gebbia: Possible frosh QB addition to Spring roster
A former PWO at a school that is now in the Pac12 with the same size eventually made his way here to become the best QB we ever had and took us to the Sugar Bowl. Dylan Gebbia is similar in that he was reportedly a PWO at UCLA. Could he become “the guy” for this program? Mechanics can be improved. He has shown on film to be a quick decision maker with running ability and speed. He’s got football pedigree.
All new Warriors come in with potential to be special, and there is a lot to like here.

I agree with both of your comments.gpmcconnell wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 9:30 am Worth a flier, definitely needs to work on his in pocket footwork and throwing motion.
In HS, McDonald had a big windup with an over the top high release. He eventually tightened it up some at UH. Gebbia's motion is much more economical and tight.
In HS, both didn't go through their secondary reads and took off running very quickly. It took almost 3 years for McDonald learn to go through the RNS footwork and reads before he started to "get it". Gebbia will need to learn to do it too. In the RNS, many times the big play is on the 3rd read on the backside of the play. It takes footwork, pocket presence and patience for the QB to get to that read while under pressure.

Cole's release in high school was totally different than what he ended with at UH. Cole had a quick but still weird looking release in high school.uhwarriors wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 10:57 amPalolo_2LA wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 8:55 am He has some distinct capabilities - touch, anticipation and can scoot.
