Re: RIP Jim Leahey
When I was really young I remember going to the old stadium and waited by the grand stand to say high to Chuck. He told me to study hard. I never got to meet Jim but have aways been a fans. To me he was the best. I could close my eyes and watch the game.
Not doubting, not hating, not loving, just hoping because I am a fan.

Re: RIP Jim Leahey
I heard on The Sports Animals podcast mentioning Jim Leahey's dad, Chuck Leahey. Chris Hart was wondering if there were any recordings of his broadcasts. I remember that there was one UH sports fan who did some of those early UH sports games on tape. I think he has passed away. He was a local insurance guy. I wonder if he passed those recordings of UH games of the 60's and 70's down to someone. I think his name was Carl Kawachi.

Carl Kawachi did pass away. I don't know who inherited his collection. He was a great fan and had a great memory. He used to call into the Bobby Curran show a lot. A mutual friend tried to hook us up, but I never did get to meet him.Walkoff Balk wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 3:57 pm I heard on The Sports Animals podcast mentioning Jim Leahey's dad, Chuck Leahey.
