georgia 65 tcu 7: hawaii 10 Georgia 41

Post by st808 »

2007 sugar bowl: georgia was angry that they were out of the national championship game and instead relegated to the sugar bowl to play cinderella hawaii. result 31 point win differential for georgia. today georgia had a 58 point win differential.

georgia dominated in both games. was jj's cinderella team better than tcu's cinderella? here's hoping chang"s run and shoot will take the warriors to a mainland bowl game.

I was texting with some friends who happen to be big UGA fans (legit as in they are from and some still live in Georgia) and I said basically the same thing. That I was feeling pride watching this game. At least UH lost by a score anyone has heard of. TCU took the worst beating of all time (bowl wise). And that UGA team had Stafford at QB.

UGA was at an elite level when they played us in 2008.

UGA is at an ELITE ELITE level now. Offense, defense, special teams, coaching, recruiting. Top program in the SEC, let alone the country.

They would have smoked us by 80.

If you mean the June Jones 2007 team playing the 2022 Georgia team then yep 80 easily.
If you mean the Timmy Chang 2022 team playing the 2022 Georgia team then 100,000 easily.

Jones' 2006 team was the best. We demolished the Sun Devils in that bowl game. While a lot of talent remained the next year, we were missing some key power on offensive and defensive sides of the game. Having two inexperienced running backs start in the Sugar Bowl didn't help either. Now, defensively and special teams, we played lights out. Stafford was sacked and intercepted. The dogs went for it on 4th down a couple of times and failed. Also, I still say the first drive of the game was shut down by a missed off-sides call in the red zone. The ends weren't 'jetting' as the announcers called it, they were off-side.

That said, Georgia has got a lot more money. They were, and always will be, dripping in elite talent. The Dawgs played a heck of a lot better this year. They beat everyone and peaked in the Championship. TCU choked.

I thought TCU had a coach who use the crackback block. What was the name of that TCU coach? UH could have use the crackback block on those edge rushers of Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.
