Re: G.J. Kinne HC at Texas State
IMO, kind of like a guy who switch jobs every year for better pay and more money. Then call that "better opportunity" as the reason to change jobs. They have not stayed in one place to really prove themselves. Or to prove their worth. If things go bad, they are not there to take the heat. Touch and go. Ride the wave. I get it, why not if the going is good.

Every move he made has been a step up in position, not only pay.cabanalane wrote: ↑Fri Dec 02, 2022 12:06 pm IMO, kind of like a guy who switch jobs every year for better pay and more money. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/ ... r-AA1g9Q6YTexas State pulled off the biggest upset of Week 1 with a 42-31 win over Baylor on Saturday night.
Baylor entered the game as a 27.5-point favorite but never led after an early 3-0 lead. Texas State and former Auburn quarterback TJ Finley diced up the Baylor defense and the Bears failed to stop the Bobcats on four fourth-down conversions.
After a 4-8 season in 2022, Texas State fired Jake Spavital after four seasons and hired former Tulsa QB G.J. Kinne. The 34-year-old Kinne is one of the youngest head coaches at the top level of college football and was the coach at FCS Incarnate Word in 2022 after a season as the co-offensive coordinator under Gus Malzahn at UCF.

TG benched him as the OC only 3 games into the season and put his son Bo in charge. I met G.J. and Bo. It was easy to tell that G.J. had infinitely more upside that Bo. More experience, more brains, more personality, more everything. G.J. bailed after the first season with TG and is doing really well for himself. After UH, Bo became a mortgage loan officer just before interest rates doubled and killed the business. I don't know what he is doing now, maybe coaching high school football.

Graham knows how to pick assistant coaches. Too bad he let nepotism get in the way.uhwarriors wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 10:09 pmTG benched him as the OC only 3 games into the season and put his son Bo in charge. I met G.J. and Bo. Week 2 lost 20-13 to defending 2 time CUSA champions UTSA. Not bad considering UTSA went 11‐3 in 2022 and 12-2 in 2021.
