FYI that at least 20 current UH players watched the walk-on tryouts and provided vocal support for Leonard Lee and a few others. There were probably around 30 walk-on candidates who participated in the tryout.

From the Star-Advertiser (By Stephen Tsai)....
Very well deserved. His teammates wanted him back, but he had to earn his way back through the walk-on tryouts in the spring. He humbly didn't wear his UH football attire and went to the back of the line for each drill. As Kapakahi said, there were many of his teammates at the tryouts supporting him. He clearly was the best one at the tryouts. Now he's on the verge of being a starting safety or at a minimum, in the rotation. Why he wasn't even on special teams the last two years totally perplexes me.

Your hard work and humility help the proud history of the Hawaii walk on program continue on to offer hope and help make dreams possible for other Hawaii football athletes who dream of playing for Hawaii.
Great story. Lee said he cried when he learned of the good news and so did I reading the comments. It doesn't get any better than this. Saturday's game excitement and anticipation got even better.
