High School All State OLD Newspaper Photos
Re: High School All State OLD Newspaper Photos
The color all star photos are awesome and brought lot of pride & memories for the prep football community when H.S.football was the only game in town with UH. The older B&W photo pages seem more dramatic & reflected the toughness of the sport.

Roger that. Chris Paogofie was a beast, too bad he didn't have the grades. He went on to a JC in Utah or Idaho & wrecked havoc up there too. Seen him play arena football for the Sharks at the Blaisdell, He hurdeled the blocking back and helmet to helmeted the QB! No flag but man the QB(an ex College star) was pissed!

OK Cillys now we talking. Check out the '72 All Star Page. The Damien All star Heine Fountaintvguy wrote:Wow! Cilly's. . . that goes a long way back into the memory banks. I was the same age as these guys, and we were the first group of 18 year olds that COULD NOT buy alcohol as the law was raised to 21 in 1986. Being an adult, older, and wiser, I can't imagine 18 year olds being able to go drink in clubs and buy booze. Of course, Beatty and Galeai could pass for 21, let alone 18. And judging by the ages that their kids who've played or are playing for Kahuku now, they were doing more "adult" stuff back then anyway . . . .TWO OUTTA ALL THE KAHUKU PLAYERS LOOKED RATHER OLD FOR HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS ( Beatty and Galeai) THEY ALSO COULD PASS FOR IDENTICAL TWINS! I BET THEY HAD NO PROBLEM GETTING INTO CILLY'S NIGHT CLUB OR BUYING ALCOHOL WHEN THEY WERE IN HIGH SCHOOL.
was a busy body down there. Running things & escorting Dolly Parton around town.

Re: High School All State OLD Newspaper Photos
lol....wow, I played against a lot of those brada's. I'm an'86 grad so I played against these guys the year prior. This was a tough bunch. I worked on Lana'i picking pineapples with Richard Stevenson and the Kahuku boys. Richard was cool and funny as heck. Malamala was a huge buggah and a brada I used to work with, Wayne Satele, was on the same team and he was 6'5 back then too......never understood how Kalaheo was so bad with the huge guys they had.wola wrote:2 NFL players from that team - Suipele Malamala (NY Jets) and Pio Sagapolutele (Browns, NE Patriots). and a bunch that went to UH - Nuuanu Kaulia, Sean Alivado (Ching), Lyno Samana, Manly Williams, Richard Stevenson, Tommy Heffernan (current UH Strength Coach).
Even Kailua was terrible....and year in and year out they churn out monsters. Not until maybe Darren Johnson (*who also was on Lana'i) got to Kailua when they actually did something in a looong time.

1982 TINO ULUFALE WAS A BEAST #88
Re: High School All State OLD Newspaper Photos
I THINK TINO ULUFALE WAS A MORE DOMINANT FOOTBALL PLAYER THEN AL NOGA OUT OF HIGHSCHOOL , FROM WHAT I HEARD FROM TEAMATES AND FROM THE COACHES #88cp222 wrote:Ive been busy lately, but heres a 1982 All State Team. I am looking for football articles from 1980 and 1981 football seasons. Would be great if someone could scan a copy of the all star teams or any other article out there regarding HS football during these seasons. Mahalo, D. Kane
