Geez, Trump can't even deal with the unity call by Bush as a helpful addon. He's got to criticize everybody.

Dr. Birx says that civil disobedience in Michigan is troubling. So she is on Trump's short list along with Dr. Fauci.

Trump downplayed the seriousness of the virus in January and now he and the Republican Senators are trying to blame this on China.

And, although China is responsible to a degree. It's like trusting a scuzball to sell you a car.

Off topic here but you just described a classmate of mine to a tee from my youth in Wyoming. LOL He's a car salesman who now lives in Oregon. Gawd help the single women there.

Yup, way OT. The US has never trusted China during the Trump administration and vice-versa. So, if anybody bought the used car from China, it's their fault, n'est pas? US Intelligence already briefed Trump as to the seriousness of the virus on January 23rd although he did not take the necessary steps to prevent the US from becoming the #1 country in # of cases and deaths.

I couldn't disagree more. The world knew of the danger of Covid-19 in early January. How much did the leader of the most powerful nation in the world know? Everything is the answer to that question and Trump didn't care. He is a science denier like most Republicans. He thought it was just like the flue in his simpleton way of understanding things. He trusted President Xi as he said in February. He was afraid his trade deal would look worthless if this whole thing blew up. Well, blow up it did.

Look, I like nothing about the way China handled this crisis but Trump enabled him...big time. Both leaders were worried about their legacies and cared nothing of the people.

I'd probably take this one step further. The man with the big hair doo actually made a big blunder and all his underlings had to bite their tongue including the Republican party. Now the fiasco has blown up in their face, they have to find someone to blame and that's China and the CCP. I got something in the mail from Epoch Times (supposedly a Chinese newspaper started out of New York) stating that the CCP is to blame. About 10 pages of different articles blaming the CCP. Articles with by-lines of Chinese names but the articles were too well written and I've never known Chinese not Chinese-Americans to be very proficient in the English language. The Republican party along with Mike Pompeo and cast are trying to focus on China as the big bad wolf because Trump goofed big time. Trump is even trying to blame Fauci.

Trump is actually making the situation worse for the nation by blaming others. He just needs to own up or shut up and move forward and make good decisions.

Just one more conspiracy theory to take the pressure of the real people responsible.

This is one of the problems with an autocratic style of leadership in any country.

You don't listen to your experts and the WHO. Then you buy up too much chloroquine from Pakistan and India that in all likelihood will be tossed because of expiration and not being approved by the FDA.

Wow, there's a lot more to this story than I originally thought. I guess political appointees at HHS are more of Caligula's Horse consuls. (Thanks for the historical insight, Wyokie.)
In late January, Bright said he was contacted by an official of a leading mask manufacturer about ramping up production. It was estimated that as many as 3.5 billion would be needed, while the national stockpile had about 300 million.

The complaint said that when Bright tried to press the issue about masks with superiors at HHS, he was ignored or rebuffed. “HHS publicly represented not only that COVID-19 was not an imminent threat, but also that HHS already had all the masks it would need,” the complaint said.

As the epidemic spread in the U.S. and engulfed the New York metropolitan area, Bright alleges that political appointees at HHS tried to promote hydroxychloroquine “as a panacea.”
Top officials also pressured him to steer contracts to a client of a lobbyist, he reported.

"Time after time I was pressured to ignore or dismiss expert scientific recommendations and instead to award lucrative contracts based on political connections,” Bright said in the call with reporters. “In other words, I was pressured to let politics and cronyism drive decisions over the opinions of the best scientists we have in government.”
