Stores are closing their doors due to hoarding and panic.

Five states closed restaurants and bars to slow the virus down. I guess Hawaii probably will not follow because the economy hinges on that aspect of their income.

Feds are once again slashing the interest rates but they have been inverted since last year which is a sign of inflation before recession.

We've got 114 cases of co-vid19. Every day I go to work, I'm tested at the door for a temperature and given a sticker to prove I've been tested. Every entry on every floor has alcohol sanitizers which everyone uses. I guess 70% of people wear masks here. Luckily, shaking hands has never been a custom here. I'm a teacher, and I constantly chide students for rubbing their eyes with their fingers.

I don’t think the temperature testing is very effective. I think there could be days in the life of this virus where no abnormal temperature is exhibited

The widespread mask use helps because it means some carriers are containing their virus

Yes, but the ritual temperature test is an awareness measure. I am made aware of my own body on a daily basis and that I should be careful about the things I come into contact with. I live in an Asian hub that has regular contact with Hong Kong, Singapore, and China. A sure sign of a Chinese tourist is Thai elephant pants. During the outbreak, I couldn't tell you how many times I saw Chinese tourists in 'elephant pants' : at the mall, at my home gym, and even on the bus! I do not have any symptoms and am grateful.

I think the virus went from Asia to Europe to mainland USA to Hawaii ...

If we can slow the virus down, it could save hundreds of thousands of lives.

Read more about the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic at http://vox.com/coronavirus

In March 2020, the World Health Organization officially classified Covid-19, the disease caused by the novel
coronavirus, as a pandemic. That means the disease no longer constitutes just an outbreak or even an epidemic;
the coronavirus has now spread around the world, and will continue to reach into other countries and communities.

That’s in part because of how contagious the virus is. When you’re infected with the flu, it takes about two days
before you start to show symptoms. But coronavirus symptoms take an average of five to six days to appear, so
it’s easy to spread well before you notice that you’re feeling sick. Many people are spreading it while going about
their daily lives as usual.

The risk is that once coronavirus starts to spread in a community, about 20% of cases are severe and may require
hospitalization. As those cases multiply, hospitals can fill up quickly. And people with severe cases of COVID-19 who
can’t receive proper medical attention are at a much higher risk of dying.

Ideally, we would be able to stop the virus from spreading entirely. We can’t do that right now. What we can do is
slow it down, so that the severe cases get spread out over a longer period of time, and hospitals are less likely to
be overwhelmed on any given day. And that’s where each one of us comes in. The best way to slow down the spread
is for everyone — healthy, sick, young, old — to limit social contact as much as possible, immediately. This is called
social distancing, and it only works if enough of us do it. But if we do, it could mean the difference between the
life and death of someone you know.

Check out the simulations of coronavirus infections with different social behaviorss: free for all, attempted quarantine, moderate social distancing and extensive social distancing and how it affects bell curve.

Helps to visualize why social distancing is important to slowing the rate of infections.

My head exploded by the end of the second paragraph.

The high desert is a beautiful place. There is boating, golf and shooting available. Might be a good time to go.
