Banker has a lot of experience, but I'd wonder what his outlook as a HC is like. Wouldn't like a longtime assistant in the mold of Norm Chow or Bob Nash who never really prepared himself for the role that a head coach has to play.
Coach Mack turned up all right :D

I think he was never a serious candidate for HC and/or he knew it was more than he could handle. He could never seem to formulate sentences in his interviews on video.

Rebuild.

True, Ivan Jasper was probably next for the Navy job, when there was interest for Kenny Niumatalolo to take the ND job.

They are both about the same age, which means, Ivan Jasper got a long wait - to be HC at Navy.

Maybe Ivan Jasper is a forever assistant coach type of guy. I don't know.

Hawaii may be Ivan Jasper's best chance at a HC job. He is at his coaching prime (age 50). Old enough with experience. And still young enough to still be coaching 10-15-20 years.

We all still know who Jasper is. And recall the magic of the Bob Wagner era.

Triple Option FTW.
Run&Shoot all the way

What? I would think Smith would want to make his own way. But he'll make good money as OC without the head coach headaches.

I hope we don't go in that direction with Anea or Lamb. The Hawaii job isn't On-The-Job-Training. I don't want to see rookie mistakes in travel, time zone, and recruiting issues. We need a hire that already knows our players, and system, the transition needs to be seamless, otherwise it's a complete rebuild and 5 steps back for our program. IMO

At least with Lamb he’s a former FCS coach that finished 45-47 in 8 seasons (final year in 2015) at Southern Utah.

Rather not have either one of them though

Yeah would kind of be like Chow hire. But the after Von Ap we got June. After Chow we got Rolo. Seems to be a pattern. Maybe we are destined to suffer the next few years.
Not doubting, not hating, not loving, just hoping because I am a fan.

🌴“WELCOME HOME COACH”🌴 :hello1: Go get’em Timmy :hello1:

We are on the job training. The only one that was a HC before coming to UH was June. All others from Tomey on, UH was their first HC job.

If we hire from within, its not On-The-Job-Training, that's the point of my post.

Can even go further back. Price was a first time HC. Dave Holmes, the HC before Price was a successful HC at Eastern Washington and did well here. Holmes was here in the late 60's and early 70's. So in 50 years, only Jones and Holmes were not first time HCs.
