****2019 OFFICIAL HAWAII VS BOISE ST. MWC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME THREAD*****
This one is for all the marbles. We're 0-8 at Boise. We lost 59-37 earlier this season. We've got a lot of injuries especially on defense. Can we do it?
Hawaii started out as a 15 point underdog. Now it's at 14.
Go Warriors! Beat Boise St.!

The point spread is only a measure of the number of bets coming through and sometimes on new intelligence about who's not playing. In this case, I think the hard core bettors are trying to make the game more interesting for them to watch.
I thought the last time Hawaii played Boise, I thought Hawaii had a pretty good chance against them out of all the times they've played Boise in Boise. Hope the defense comes out with renewed energy. I don't think we had Derek Thomas who I thought was going to be really good this year and also Dayton Furuta had his injury and DNP. Boise played an up tempo game switching in/out three quarterbacks so it gave Hawaii different looks on offense but I still think the defense was good. I like the fact that Laulu can chase down the runner from his DL position. I think Hawaii is going to do a lot better and hopefully win baby win.

Were there additional injuries against Army? Or same injuries as pre-Army? Making sure I didn't miss something.uhwarriors wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2019 12:44 pm We've got a lot of injuries especially on defense. Can we do it?

The low lights of round 1 with Boise were definitely the -3 in turnovers, 10 penalties, dismal performances by the QB, Pritchard being ejected from the game, receivers with numerous dropped balls, Boises 200 yards rushing (+300 yards passing), falling behind 31-7 and the team being awestruck, starstruck and dumbstruck (at seeing red, being stopped).
The high lights, the Hawaii OL allowing 0 sacks and 2 TFL, which are season lows for Boise's defense.
This time around I see a green light for Hawaii. I just have this gut feeling. With both QB's on a short leash, I see it as each has no room for error. So it should keep both players focused in this game as both want to play and win.
If Hawaii's defense plays impassioned, fundamentally sound and consistent (and not nonexistent like in round 1) then I say Hawaii has good chance of shocking Boise. With CB on the sidelines, his leadership, has affected the defensive play, where I see more of the defenders swarming to the ball, hustling, playing faster (it seems). This has to continue.
There's a goliath, no doubt, in Boise. But it will take a perfect game for Hawaii to win. I can see that happening.

It looks like Boise is going to start Henderson, SR at quarterback and Harsin is hoping for a Cotton Bowl berth. I look back at the season and think the only blemish on the season is the loss to Fresno State who finished 2-6 in the conference. But, I sort of expected that because of the poor win over New Mexico where Hawaii gave up lots of scoring in the fourth quarter and brought no momentum into the Fresno State game. At New Mexico, they failed to punt on fourth down on their own 36 yard line in the fourth quarter. Momentum is key to continue a winning season. Even in a loss, we finish strong its going to provide the momentum in the next game.

I think Hawaii has a good chance is pulling off a win. No let down in the win over Army in the fourth quarter and the season has been a good one. Win baby win.

Pretty good MWC video on the Hawaii/Boise State matchup this weekend. I like the motivation for the game in the Hawaii portion more or less dedicating the game to Scheyenne Sanitoa.

The story line for this game is the underdog but inspired Hawaii team is going up against the highly favored Big Bad Boise.
I look for Khoury Bethley and Paul Scott to have game changing plays with Solomon Matautia having some crucial stops at the line and Jonah Laulu making some critical stops when they go outside. Let's not forget Darius Muasau and Derek Thomas getting to the QB.

Their home field record against UH tells the outcome.
