Cavanaugh joining Syracuse Staff

Post by Irse »

Riley just got fired at Nebraska. We probably don't have enough money to hire coach Cav again though.

Hopefully they'll be other experienced, good assistant coaches that fall through the cracks and maybe we can hire them.

Having Coach Cav back would be huge. Maybe if he had enough love for Hawaii he'll come back regardless of pay. :ghug:

Maybe he would come back if June were named the OC.

I'd be good for Cav to come back, even if only for one season before he goes to another P5 program later.

Cavanaugh won’t be rejoining UH staff

Post by uhwarriors »

Hawaii: Source tells FootballScoop former Nebraska and Oregon State offensive line coach Mike Cavanaugh is a candidate for the offensive line job at Hawaii.

Heard about this possibility about 6 weeks ago from a very reliable source, but couldn't say anything about it. It is now being reported on footballscoop.com that he is a candidate. Rolo has said he wants to have the OL assistant in place before the 12/20-23 early signing period. Let's hope it's true.

Do you think he will be given AHC and Offensive coordinator title?

I ask this because he made 450k last year at Nebraska and that is more than we pay Rolo. What did Noele make as Oline coach 80-100k?

I would imagine that they would have to add another title so he could get paid more. I can't imagine he would want to get paid what we can offer unless he has no other offers.

Why sure, I'm sure UH has another 300K-400k lying around someplace to pay Cavanaugh. Just the hint of his named being a candidate for a UH job is IMO, the closest that UH is gonna get to him. He is way out of reach for UH. But, one can dream.....

Cavanaugh may be at a point in life where money and professional stature isn't the deciding factor. He is 54 years old, kids are grown and he loves living in Hawaii. I think there's a better chance than most are giving it that he becomes our Oline coach and I wouldn't be shocked.

Would be a huge boost to the Warrior Ohana if Cav comes back, even if for only a year.

I heard as well, but I didn't believe it at the time (perhaps because I don't want to get my hopes up). I hope this pans out...

This one is a no brainer. It would give our program a huge boost. One way to get fans excited again.
