I know for a fact that you didn't watch a single second of it.
That's because I'm superstitious when it comes to the WYOMING COWBOYS.

Sadly, for Hawaii, there's a great chance that next year it'll be Hawaii @ Wyoming with AFA and Boise leaving (only bright side to them leaving).

Re: 2011 Opponent's schedules - Week 8 - Homecoming win!

Post by chawan_cut »

ok, sorry so late with this weekend's results. its been a hectic week.

good win for the Warriors. solved some problem areas, but found some others. nice to see the special teams bounce back with the punt block and almost recovery of the fumble on a kickoff return. fixed the blocking issues, but missed 2 others on a bad hold and crooked kick. those are correctable, as those are just mental/focus issues. not easily fixable are the hurt legs of our kickers. interesting to see who will make the travel roster to moscow. indoors, in a "gym", with no environmental factors.

here's how our opponents did.

Colorado - looks like its on its way to a side bolo season. not sure i can see a win on their horizon anytime soon.
Washington - Stanford proved who the big daddy in the conference is, crushing the newly ranked huskies.
UC Davis falls to South Dakota in a close one.
La Tech gets 2 WAC wins in a row, going to Logan to sneak one away from the Aggies
Nevada pulls out a close one against Fresno, which is huge and could determine the wac champion. these 2 games for us will also be key for the Warriors to reach one of their goals. traveling to reno is never easy, but fresno comes here in a few weeks.
Tulane's Green Wave is still rippling in Conf-USA
and BYU gets a midseason cupcake treat vs Idaho State.
San Jose, UNLV & Idaho all get a bye this week to recover.
this week at the Vandals should be a fun one. the Warriors need to prove that the win away at La Tech wasn't a fluke. they need to head to Moscow and ignore the weird Kibbie Dome atmosphere and kiss the Vandals goodbye.

Re: 2011 Opponent's schedules - Week 9 - Chun for the win!

Post by chawan_cut »

alright, special teams!!!! after the troubles we've had this year, who would've thought they would win us the game this week? defense also played strong with key 4th and 1 stops and two timely interceptions, including one by Aaron Brown, to kill a key spartan drive that would've given them a 8pt lead. why san jose ran it up the gut on those 4th down drives when the d-line is the strength of our defense, just like how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop, the world will never know. a 47 yard fg by hadden and two fgs by kenton chun, including the one to take the lead...
offense struggled a little, but had the strong drive at the end to give chun the chance. hope the rest of the season that all 3 phases of the game can show up together and play a complete game.
we have Utah St next week, who also had a bye this week to prepare for us (thanks WAC schedulers!). i think we escaped this game relatively injury free, so we should be healthy for the aggies. USU has had a bunch of late game losses against some big names like Auburn and BYU. we shall see which team shows up this week.
here's the rest of our opponents:

Colorado - Buffs really are looking like they'll be a one win team this year. they go down hard to the sun devils and get USC next sat. I'm sure USC will be looking to rough up somebody after a tough loss to Stanford and Luck.
Washington - looking like the surprise of the PAC-12. sure it was lowly arizona, but they got their offense back on track. they get to host Oregon next week in one of their rivalry games in a true test.
UNLV - isn't the doormat of the MWC after all, taking down the Rams of Colorado St. they'll welcome Boise St to Sam Boyd stadium next week which might be uglier than most costumes on Halloween.
UC Davis - Aggies struggle like the rest of their mascot brotherhood, losing at Southern Utah.
La Tech - is looking good in the WAC, winning their 3rd conference game in a row after losing to us. they head to fresno however, which is never an easy place to play.
Nevada/NMSU - the surprise of the WAC. after roughing up fresno last week, they run 48 on nmsu. of course, they get a bye this week to watch us play and heal before we head to reno in two weeks. (again, thanks WAC)
Tulane - loses their 6th in a row. they get JJ's SMU next week, which kinda sucks for us, as they'll get practice against another RnS team before they play us in a few weeks.
BYU - looks like they caught the special teams bug, as they have issues with 3 punts and TCU take advantage to win by 10. they get to heal this week before heading to the kibbie dome to experience the hangar.

Go Warriors! See you at Aloha Stadium saturday!!!

Re: 2011 Opponent's schedules - Week 10 - Tough late loss to

Post by chawan_cut »

sorry so late with this.
it took me awhile to get over Saturday's loss. words can't explain how this season has gone. up, down, good, bad, disappointed, surprised....
anyways, good luck to our Warriors as they head to freezing Reno for the Wolfpack.
Crazy year for the rest of our opponents.

Fresno on a downward spiral.
Colorado is having it rough in the pac-12
Washington surprising everyone, but still can't overcome Luck and the Cardinal.
Boise overcomes a slow start to UNLV but routs them in the end.

see you guys Sunday.

Re: 2011 Opponent's schedules - Week 11- More than a loss

Post by chawan_cut »

Prayers go out to Bryant Moniz and his recovery. Tough way to end your season and your career. (Greg Alexander is still recovering). Thank you for your time and effort and passion all these years. 3 games left, 2 wins needed to get to the HI bowl. We'll see how the players return from the trip and refocus on Fresno, Tulane and BYU.

Colorado - proved everyone wrong. Able to KO Arizona to their first PAC-12 win blowing out the Wildcats in Boulder.
UW however gets blown out by USC. They end their season with a struggling Beaver team before the Apple cup.
UNLV is back in their losing ways, going down to woeful New Mexico.
UC Davis has one game left in their season. Good luck Aggies!
La Tech is on a roll, winning their 5th in a row (after losing to us). They head to Reno next weekend to determine the WAC champion.
San jose gives up the lead late to USU in losing their 3rd straight after beating us
NMSU scores late to upset Fresno. Hopefully Fresno continues to struggle this week when they head here.
BYU keeps beating up on the WAC, this time wiping out Idaho. lets hope that's the last one though. c'mon cougars, come to hawaii for a vacation!
Tulane lost their 8th in a row. lets hope they don't find themselves in two weeks.

Good luck Warriors this week. Whoever the QB will start this week will need the full week of practice with the starters. Fresno is our true rival and I know our guys will be up to the task this weekend. they've beaten us a bunch here and we have done the same to them there. time to get the home field advantage back!

Re: 2011 Opponent's schedules - Week 12-bye bye WAC

Post by chawan_cut »

not the way we wanted to exit the WAC. our comeback falls short against the bulldogs. luckily we'll be able to keep the rivalry going in the MWC. gotta wonder if this'll be the last we see of pat hill however. this is the bizarro rivalry though. no one can seem to win at home and only on the road. two games left. two to win. hopefully tulane comes here looking for a vacation to end a really long season for them. byu on the other hand gets to rest and recover while waiting for us in 2 weeks.
here's how everyone else did.
colorado - back on the losing path, getting blasted by the bruins in LA. they end their season next week against the Utes of Utah.
Washington - on their own losing streak after starting the season so well. they can keep their winning season by beating in state rival Wazzu in the Apple cup this weekend.
UNLV - also loses 3 in a row. we'll see them in the mwc next year.
UC davis - ends their season with a win over neighboring Sac st
La tech - surprise of the wac. took out the wolfpack in reno. if they can win out against NMSU next week, they'll take the wac crown
SJSU - pulls off the amazing upset over navy. they end with fresno next week.
NMSU - gets beat up by BYU. hope the cougars come here for a vacation too.
Idaho - loses a close one to USU.
Tulane - goes down with a wimper to the owls of rice. as bobby curran says it, hope the green wave come here for some M&M, mopeds and mai tais (hopefully not one after the other though).

Go Warriors! its been tough, but we support you!

Congratulations David Graves and Shane Austin for combining to take down the low tide green wave. they put up a good fight to end their season though, as their running backs were tough to take down.
One more to go!!

anyways, to the rest of our opponents....
Colorado - ends their inaugural season in the pac-12 with a win at Utah. we'll see how they grow over the offseason
Washington - takes down their in state rival Wazzu in the Apple cup. what bowl will they end up in? gotta wait and see.
UNLV - loses their 4th in a row to san diego st. not gonna get any better with TCU next week.
La Tech - wins their amazing 7th in a row shutting out NMSU and takes the WAC crown. wow, who would've thought our win over them would be their last loss.
Fresno - this might be Pat Hill's last year as they go down to San Jose.
Nevada - can't put up a fight to USU after losing their wac champ chances last week.
NMSU - ends their season at USU next week. will they recover from their loss to La Tech?
Idaho has a bye before heading to Reno this week.
BYU awaits this bye week. hope with all of our uncertainties on offense with 2 starting qbs that we give them something to think about.
Go Warriors!!!! See you at the stadium! (You too students!!!)
