"Pirates of the Carribean" Opens at $90.1M!



(EW-John Young) "Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides" opened this past weekend to a rousing $90.1M to become this year's biggest opening, surpassing "Fast Five's" opening of $86.2M set earlier this month. This Pirates' 3D version added to its robust overseas total of $253M, however, the fourth installment fell short when compared to its 2 predecessors (Dead Man's Chest and At World's End), which averaged well over $100M in their respective openings in 2006 and 2007. Did Disney wait too long for the sequel while it was still hot? We'll never know.

The fourth installment also garnered the weakest reviews among the series but Cinemascore audiences scored it at a favorable B+.

In second, the R-rated "Bridesmaids" finished with a slight drop earning $21.1M. In third, Marvel's "Thor" raked in $15.5M. In fourth, "Fast Five" is slowly heading to "DVD/bluray land" bringing in $10.6M.

Oscar De La Hoya Reason for Rehab---Cocaine and Drinking!

(TMZ) TMZ reports that the reason former Boxing champ Oscar De La Hoya checked into rehab was due to drinking problems and cocaine use. He was also rumored to having infidelity problems in his marriage, which was a result of his "substance abuse" problems.

TMZ broke the news a few days ago about the former champ checking into rehab a few weeks ago due to substance abuse, but no specific reasons were given until now. De La Hoya is seen as an important figure in the possible resurgence of boxing because of his successful boxing promotion business, Golden Boy Enterprises. He later formed Golden Boy Partners to help create urban development projects for the Hispanic community.

Unfortunately, he has been dogged by fidelity issues before and accused of raping a 15 year old back in 2001. The case was settled out of court. In 2007, the boxer was photographed in different modes of cross-dressing attire in the company of a woman, not his wife. Mila Dravnel, who sold the pictures to a tabloid, later sued De La Hoya but the lawsuit was later dropped when experts found the photos to be fake.

Sources said that De La Hoya believes that he hasn't hit bottom, but decided to check into a treatment center before things got totally "out of control."

(Hollyscoop) Serial dater Leo DiCaprio broke up with Swimsuit model Bar Rafaeli and was seen around the Cannes Film Festival with actress Blake Lively (The Town). Sources said that DiCaprio and Lively were seen together "acting like a couple" and "hugging a lot."

Suspect Found in Dodger Stadium Beating Case!


LA Police Chief Charlie Beck (above) announced the arrest of Giovanni Ramirez, who is accused of kicking SF Giants fan Bryan Stow while he lay unconscious on the ground on March 31.

(LA Times) A 31 year-old ex-convict, Giovanni Ramirez, was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department yesterday for the beating of San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow, who was severely beaten at Dodger Stadium on March 31. Ramirez was arrested without incident by SWAT team members, who converged on his East Hollywood apartment early Sunday morning. He, along with another man, was booked on suspicion of blindsiding Stow, 42, who was seen leaving the stadium. Ramirez is accused of kicking Stow while he lay unconscious on the ground.

LAPD Chief Charlie Beck called the arrest "a huge step" for the L.A. Dodgers organization, the city, and Major League Baseball, who are fed up with the violence associated with a Dodger fan base dominated by gang members.

Ramirez is in custody and is being held on $1M bail. Stow suffered brain damage and has shown movement by opening his eyes but he remains hospitalized at a San Francisco hospital.

The LAPD are still searching for a second male suspect and a woman who drove the suspects to the stadium.

Former "Taxi" Star Jeff Conaway Reported to Be Near-Death After Overdose!


Former Taxi star Jeff Conaway (above) is in critical condition at an L.A. hospital after an overdose on May 11.

(Radaronline) Former "Taxi" star Jeff Conaway, 60, who battled drinking and substance abuse problems for many years, is reported to be near-death, after his overdose on May 11. Conaway was found unconscious on the floor at his Encino home and believed to have accidently overdosed on prescription drugs. Other reports say that Conaway took the drugs to "kill himself."

Conaway is said to be in a medically-incuded coma and remains at an L.A. area hospital. He was recently visited by Taxi co-stars Tony Danza and Marilou Henner, who have maintained a bedside vigil for Conaway. One source said that there was a touching moment when Conaway turned his head to Henner when she was talking to him.

Sources said that the overdose came at a bad time because the Taxi star was making a sincere effort to get sober. Family and friends said that the situation appears grim but many of his close friends are telling him to recover and get sober so that he can "prove everyone wrong!"

Conaway co-starred in the 1978 film "Grease" and 4 years on the hit sitcom Taxi. His last television appearance was on "Celebrity Rehab" in 2008.

Billboard Music Awards hosted by comedian Ken Jeong had a potpourri of music, dull speeches, and kissing!

(Deadline Hollywood) Last night, the Billboard Music Awards brought in an average audience of 7M viewers! The music awards show had two notorious on-screen kisses, one involving Rihanna and Britney Spears and the other involving teeny boppers and real-life couple Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez.

Performing well on Sunday was Tom Selleck's portrayal of private investigator Jesse Stone in a made-for-tv film "Jesse Stone Innocents Lost" which brought in 13.7M viewers.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump's early announcement to NOT run for President may have helped his show "Celebrity Apprentice" which was up 16% with 8M viewers.

In other news, cable network Showtime renewed "Nurse Jackie" but it cancelled Toni Colette's Emmy winning show "The United States of Tara."

The singer may have NOT surpassed Oprah in earnings and popularity with women over 35 years old, but she is the most popular on Facebook with 32M friends and on Twitter with 10M followers, and 1 billion hits on her Youtube videos! She is marketing monster endorsing Virgin mobile phones, MAC makeup products, and Monster headphones. Oh, and her album "Born This Way" is No. 1 after debuting on iTunes today.

(Hollyscoop) The Arnold Schwarzeneggar Love Child scandal seems to be dying down but new details reveal that soon to be ex-wife Maria Shriver was so hysterical hearing the news that she let her camp release the news! Maria didn't find out about Arnold's love child until April/May when Arnold was about to leave the Governor's office and sources said she was livid. At one point, her friends had to convince her from holding a press conference to spill the beans about her husband.

However, while friends persuaded not to blow the lid off the scandal that way, Maria gave her friends "the go-ahead" to leak it to TMZ and the L.A. Times.

Actress/Model Estella Warren Goes Berserk After Being Arrested for DUI!


Estella Warren (above) went "ape" after being arrested for suspicion of DUI last night in Los Angeles!

(Hollyscoop) "Planet of the Apes" and "Kangaroo Jack" star Estella Warren may have thought she may have been cast in a "Hangover-type" film last night when she was caught crashing her Toyota Prius into 3 cars, resisting and kicking a Police officer, and then attempting to escape while being booked at the Police station!

Police said that the actress drove her car into 3 cars and immediately took her into custody for suspicion of DUI but not before resisting arrest and kicking a Police officer. She was eventually taken to the Police station in handcuffs but during the booking process, Warren released herself from the cuffs and attempted to run away! WTF?

Not only was she charged for suspicion of Driving under the Influence but she is also booked for assault and hit-and-run! Yikes!

It is unknown if Warren was actually drunk or under the influence of drugs. It won't be long until we get that news, of course!

"Dancing With the Stars" Performance Finale Gives ABC Win!

(EW) The "Dancing With the Stars" Performance finale last night featuring celebrity finalists actress Chelsea Kane, football player Hines Ward, and actress Kirstie Alley brought in 22M viewers and a win for ABC! However, the viewer carryover of DWTS to the premiere of "The Bachelorette" did not go over well as the audience plunged to 10M for the long-running television dating show. Overall, ABC averaged 13.6M viewers and easily won the night.

As for DWTS, Chelsea Kane is definitely the more polished dancer on the show and should be the clear favorite to win the DWTS trophy. However, sometimes the more polished dancer may not be the most popular. Hines Ward is the darkhorse and should finish second while Kirstie Alley may be counting on her fans' vote to pull out a victory. We'll find out the results tonight!

Meanwhile, ratings increases for NBC's "The Event" and Fox' "Chicago Code" were evident in their finale episodes but it was all for naught because both shows have already cancelled.

At CBS, the network went on rerun mode with servings of "How I Met My Mother" (4.4M) and "Two and a Half-Men" (8M), taking 3rd place for the night.

Fox took 2nd with a "House" finale (8.9M) and NBC took the customary basement with a season finale for the just cancelled "Law and Order: Los Angeles."

Bryan Stow's Family Files Lawsuit Against the Beleaguered Dodgers Organization!

(TMZ/ESPN) The family of Bryan Stow, who was brutally beaten at Dodger Stadium and remains hospitalized in a San Francisco hospital, has filed a lawsuit with no specific dollar amount against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Sources indicate that the family may be seeking close to $45-50M in order to care for Stow, who's condition is still unknown due to brain damage, and his two young children. The amount is based on the possible continued care of Stow in the future and the economic damages to Stow and his children.

Attorney Thomas Girardi who represents the Stow family cites the lack of security, a gang presence, and a blatant disregard for public safety by the Dodgers organization at the Stadium that led to the attack on Bryan Stow.

The news comes on the heels of the capture of a suspect, Giovanni Ramirez, who is an ex-convict and gang member. Ramirez was arrested on Sunday without incident. Police are still searching for two other suspects.

Today, some family/friends have come forward to support Ramirez' innocence and claim that he was NOT at the game on March 31. Ramirez himself said that he was home babysitting at the time of the game.

Meanwhile, Dodgers owner Frank Mccourt must feel he's "under siege." He has to contend with this lawsuit, a divorce from co-owner/wife who is trying to sell the team claiming Frank to be a detriment to the organization, attendance at Chavez Ravine is sinking, and the MLB strips him from the ownership of the team.

Staples Center (home of the Lakers and Clippers) Sued For Toddler's Death!

(ABC News/wordpress) Lucas Tang, 2, fell 50 feet to his death from a third level luxury box at Staples Center during the LA Lakers/Golden State Warriors game back in November and his family have filed a lawsuit against Anschultz Entertainment Group (AEG) today for unspecificed damages. The Tang family claim that AEG and Los Angeles Arena company failed to warn fans about the design of the luxury boxes which does not protect fans from the possibility of falling out.

The family attended the game and visited the luxury skybox with Lucas and his 11 year old sister, taking photographs. The 2 year old had just taken a photo minutes before he went missing. He apparently fell over a 10 inch high glass and fell 50 feet below on a concrete walkway. Reports said that the toddler's Mom and Dad were flipping through the camera's photos, when they realized Lucas was nowhere in sight.

Staples Center officials and city officials contend that the 26 inch high concrete guardrails with a 10 inch high glass are up to safety codes. Michael Roth, Vice President of Communications for AEG, did not comment because he has not seen the lawsuit.

The Lakers were not mentioned in the suit but members of the team did express their condolences for the family back in November, a day after the game.

Nancy Kerrigan's Brother Acquitted of Manslaughter!

(Radaronline) The brother of former figure skating champ Nancy Kerrigan was acquitted by a grand jury of manslaughter in the death of his father Daniel, 70, at their Massachussettes home. However, Mark Kerrigan, was found guilty of a second charge of assault and battery in his father's death.

Mark and Nancy's Mother Brenda, who witnessed the fight on January last year between Mark and Daniel, said that the scuffle between the two lasted only a few seconds but it ended with Daniel falling to the floor and eventually suffering a heart attack.

Mark has been characterized by prosecutors as being an angry and drunk son who set out to kill his father.

Mark's attorney said that Daniel's long-standing heart disease was the cause of his death, not his client.

Nancy and Brenda went to court each day to support Mark.

He will be sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison.

Hines Ward Wins "Dancing With the Stars!"

(Hollyscoop) Pittsburgh Steelers Wide Receiver Hines Ward, along with dance pro Kym Johnson, won the "Dancing With the Stars" title last night! Ward, the dark horse of the competition, took the title over Disney star Chelsea Kane and dance pro Mark Ballas and actress Kirstie Alley and her partner Maksim Chrmensky in a thrilling dance-off finale!

Traditionally, NFL players have done well in the competition. Ward joins fellow NFL player Emmitt Smith to win the title. Smith won on Season 3 with partner Cheryl Burke. If an NFL player didn't win, they would usually finish in the top 5 (example Warren Sapp finished 2nd and Jason Taylor, Chad Johnson, Michael Irvin, and Kurt Warner all finished just short making the final).

Ward may have been the underdog but his fans had the last say! He has numerous Steelers fans and countless new fans who watched the show went on and voted him to victory.

American Idol Finalist Lauren Alaina Loses Voice Hours before Final!

(Hollyscoop) What would have been "Country Idol," has had a sudden turn. American Idol finalist Lauren Alaina has lost her voice after the performance final last night and her Doctor said that the Country singer simply "blew out her chords." Alaina is said to be on medication to help mend her voice but her Doctor made no promises if she would actually perform tonight with Country singer Scott Mccreery in the season finale. American Idol 3rd runner-up Hailey Reinhart who was eliminated last week remains on "standby" to take Alaina's place if she is unable to perform. Reinhart was seen rehearsing yesterday to prepare.

Alaina's fans and country fans are obviously disappointed if Alaina is unable to perform on tonight's finale.

The news of Alaina has put a twist on what is deemed a "successful" season that featured two new judges, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. Lopez and Tyler added a "positive element" to the show rather than the "negative and comical comments" that former AI judge Simon Cowell was famous for. Old AI standby Randy Jackson must have caught the "positive bug" from Lopez and Tyler because he rarely levies any negative criticism toward any of the performers like he did before.

The positive attitude has stopped the bleeding from the top-rated reality show for now as it has experienced only a small drop in the audience compared to last year. However, the season finale will reveal how successful the show is overall because the last episode is a true test to how popular the show really is. We'll find that out when the ratings for the finale come out tomorrow.

Former Presidential-Candidate John Edwards in Trouble As Justice Department Moves Toward Charges!


Former Presidential Candidate John Edwards (above) may be looking at some jail time and losing his lawyer license for giving campaign funds to his mistress.

(CNN) Former Senator/Presidential Candidate John Edwards is in serious trouble with the Federal Government, who are close to wrapping up their 2 year investigation on whether Edwards used campaign funds for his mistress Rielle Hunter. Sources say that the Justice Department has authorized prosecutors to bring charges against Edwards.

An indictment could be averted if Edwards and prosecutors agree on a plea deal. However, if the former Presidential Candidate does plead guilty to a felony, he will lose his law license, an issue that Edwards is trying to avoid. He told friends and associates that he was planning to open a "public interest" law firm but losing his license will prevent him from doing that. In addition, Edwards is afraid of going to jail.

Sources say that Edwards is considering his options.

The Federal Government investigation stems from Edwards' former aide Andrew Young who wrote a tell-all book, "The Politician." Young wrote that heiress Rachel Mellon gave Edwards a $700,000 gift in order to "cover-up" the affair he had with Hunter, who was pregnant at the time with Edwards' baby. Mellon said that she didn't know where the money went but Young contends that the contribution went to Hunter's plane tickets and her rent towards her California home.

In 2008 on "Nightline," Edwards said that he never paid a dime to any of the people who were involved in the scandal and never asked money to those involved. Years later, after being pressured by the media, Edwards finally admitted to fathering Hunter's child.

His wife Elizabeth Edwards, who stood by her husband througout the ordeal until he admitted he was the baby's father, died in December last year. The couple were separated at the time of her death and Edwards stayed by her bedside up until she died of cancer.

Reports say that Edwards' legal team are trying to persuade the former Senator to accept the plea deal because they believe the Feds don't have a legitimate case. Members of his legal team have refused comment.

(TMZ) Reality star Kim Kardashian recently got engaged with New Jersey Nets forward Kris Humphries and he apparently gave her a Lorraine Schwartz-designed 20.5 carat ring valued at--KA CHING--$2M! Sources said that Kris proposed to Kim on May 18 on one knee in her bedroom with rose petals spelling out "Will You Marry Me!"

Of course--probably tired from serial dating and fearing being an "old-maid"---she said YES!

Of course, Kris Kardashian, Kim's Mom and Humphries planned the whole proposal and an intimate family dinner later that day to celebrate.

(Zap2it) The performance final between Lauren Alaina and Scott Mccreery on "American Idol" dipped in the demo audience (18 to 49 years old) but increased its overall audience total (20M), when compared to last year's totals. Coming in second was "Dancing with the Stars" which averaged 17M throughout the night.

DWTS completely destroyed NBC's offering of "The Voice" which managed only 8.8M viewers to Dancing's 22M during the 10pm hour.

Meanwhile, NBC's "Biggest Loser" made an announcement on the season finale that long-time trainer Jillian Michaels would be replaced with one-time tennis teen phenom Anna Kournikova. In addition, the once 261lb, 35 year-old opera singer Olivia Ward lost 129lbs to win the title on Biggest Loser.

Fox claimed victory over DWTS in the demo audience with the season finale of "Glee."

CBS had reruns the whole night.

California Atty. General Launches Investigation On Whether Ahnold Used Tax Payer Funds For Sexual Liasons!


Arnold Schwarzeneggar (above) is getting a lot of heat nowadays with the impending divorce from Maria Shriver, former mistress Patty Baena blabbing to the press, an image that is temporarily tarnished, and now a possible investigation from the Attorney General.

(Radaronline) Woah! Arnold Schwarzeneggar left office a few weeks ago but the California Attorney General has launched a criminal investigation if the former Governor used tax payer funds for his sexual escapades! The Attorney General office has received reports from veteran hotel security officer William Taylor who said that Schwarzeneggar used California Highway Patrol officers to escort scantily-clad women in and out of the Sacramento Hyatt Regency where the actor and his wife Maria Shriver often stayed.

Taylor said that he had witnessed these incidents on 3 separate occassions in which CHP used official vehicles and Crown Victoria sedans to ferry these women to the hotel. It must be noted that Taylor passed a polygraph test.

However, several CHP officers who served under Arnold have denied the allegations. Retired CHP Sergeant Mark Hammond who served as supervisor of the Governor's security detail for 7 years said that "he did not see anything that Schwarzeneggar did that was inappropriate!" In addition, retired CHP officer Mark Trevino said that the Governor "conducted himself in an honorable manner."

The actor has hired legal pitbull Marty Singer to represent him and Singer says that the accusations are "completely fabricated.'

Former "2 Live Crew" member Luther Campbell (above), 50, is running for Mayor! Why? Why Not?

(Media Takeout) Former "2 Live Crew" band member and lothario Luther Campbell was probably the most unusual candidate to run for Mayor of the city of Miami and he ran a unique campaign that didn't "pull any punches" but he lost with 11% of the vote yesterday! Maybe Luther was hot during the late 80s and early 90s and a little bit late since the days of "2 Live Crew" (remember theose family hits "Me So Horny" and other bawdy songs like "We Want Some P****y" and "The F**k Shop") and the Miami Hurricanes who once ruled the city but he didn't care.

AND, check this out. Had he been Mayor he would have been campaigning and dealing with the issues during the day but check out what he would've done at NIGHT!



Don't laugh but give the man his props. Hey, maybe Luther would have made Miami an even MORE fun city once again, now that Lebron James and the Miami Heat may be bringing an NBA title to the Florida's most popular destination for adults.

He surely would've made the Miami Mayor's office interesting and he wouldn't LIE, like that former Governor from California.

In his concession speech yesterday, Campbell said that his campaign started as "a joke" but he felt that people may take him seriously next time (he plans to run in 2012). However, he did say that if he does run again, he would drop the "stripper tax" he was proposing.
