Rainbow Wahine earn berth in NCAA Softball Regionals
They're in!!!!!!! Hopefully they can have another great run!!!!!!
They'll open up w/ Mississippi State of the SEC in Tempe, Arizona this Friday. 6 Arizona State (56-5) is the regional host. They're the PAC-10 champions. If you remember, last season the Rainbow Wahine beat the '07 Pac-10 champs (UCLA Bruins) in the regionals.

YES!!! Wow, getting in despite the drop at the end of the season is a sign of respect by the committee. It puts WAC softball in a positive light. Now they get the chance to prove the committee right.

I am very pleasently surprised that 4 WAC teams got invites. Congratulations Wahine!

Good job to the committee. If you ignore the fact that UH played in the WAC, I thought our resume was very good.
Wow, 4 teams! Let's hope at least one can make it to the CWS!

Congrats! I thought they deserved it. There's a lot of Senior leadership on this team. They got a legitimate chance to make some noise. If only they had more than 2 legitimate pitchers.

Congratulations to the Wahine! I hoped they'd get in since they have been ranked - although four teams from the WAC is just unheard of.
As for the Friday night loss to Nevada, I think it illustrated a problem in softball. I saw the Nevada coach sending up pinch hitters and pinch runners in the sole effort to disrupt Sarah's rhythm. The re-entry rule where players are taken out, yet are not actually out that seems to exist in softball encourages that. I would assume that the rules were instituted at a time where there was not much depth or to address injury situations, and not meant to be used disrupt an opposing pitcher's rhythm. I realize that it's within the rules, much like batters in baseball call time to affect a pitcher's rhythm or when a VB coach makes a substitution to stop momentum, but the extent of the in and out by Nevada seemed to be against the spirit of the rules to me. I wonder if Nevada employed the same strategy when they had that big last inning rally in Reno, and whether the way to counteract that could be to bring in a mentally fresher pitcher earlier to deal with such "psychological warfare" next time.

I've been trying to figure that out as well but I haven't found anything. I do know that the game will be on 1420.MackAttack808 wrote:Is the game going to be televised?

I wanted to see them play, too. If I find something about them being on TV, I'll let you know.MackAttack808 wrote:Shucks I wanted to see them play since I didn't all season.
