Why do we have more people recovered from the disease in China than we do in the US? Why does India whose population is three times the population of the US have far less cases than the US?

People got sick in China first. It is the epicenter of the pandemic. Hence, more Chinese got sick and have since recovered. Everything I heard from the science community said that it was only a matter of time before it hit the US. Trump didn't listen. In the case of India, I think it was interaction or lack-there-of with Chinese tourists that has meant a slower start to the outbreak. I'll look into it.

Double speak nonsense from our government. This is an interview with Mike Pence on March 12.

What I've noticed most here in the US is the empty shelves in grocery stores so yeah, I can easily see malls closing. Everybody relies on the market in some fashion whether they are recipients of a pension or have IRAs or day traders. Now is the time to buy and hold. Recovery is about 2-4 years in coming. The bottom has been reached yet.

Since you're in the area. Do you feel as others in the article do, that Asia is safer than the US?

Locally, I think Ige has been doing a terrible job but imagine if we elected Tupola and that wacko she had for a Lt. Gov. At least Ige has a MD as a Lt. Gov who is giving good advice.

Nationally, I think Trump has been doing a lousy job too.

Why West Virginia had no cases of the coronavirus. They didn't have testing available.

Federal pushes our income tax filing to July but the state hasn't done anything yet about delaying the filings of all these people now out of a job.

When Trump gets in front of the microphone in a press conference, I just wonder why. Nothing is what he has to says is intelligent.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics ... d=primentp
Now his chief doctor in charge is saying he can't do anything. Trump is coming back and saying "Okay, we'll get it right the next time." Give this problem up to the CDC. Do NOT use this issue for re-election!

Then Trump comes out and blames the media, the Democrats, the Chinese and everybody so maybe anger will replace the actual crisis.

How about the President's idiotic touting and re-touting of the rather dubious drug, Chloroquine?

Finally Ige did something right and moved the state tax filing/payment date to July 20.

One thing I don't really understand is that while pneumonia is one of the main complications of this virus and the cause of many deaths, why hasn't the Prez or the CDC make strong recommendations on getting the pneumonia vaccine? I would think that would help, it surely can't hurt. They also need to ramp up their production of Zpacks. Seems like that could help in the milder cases.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-given- ... 24586.html
President Donald Trump has praised Dr. Anthony S. Fauci as a “major television star.” He has tried to demonstrate that the administration is giving him free rein to speak. And he has deferred to Fauci’s opinion several times at the coronavirus task force’s televised briefings.

But Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984, has grown bolder in correcting the president’s falsehoods and overly rosy statements about the spread of the coronavirus in the past two weeks — and become a hero to the president’s critics because of it. And now Trump’s patience has started to wear thin.

So has the patience of some White House advisers, who see Fauci as taking shots at the president in some of his interviews with print reporters while offering extensive praise for Trump in television interviews with conservative hosts.

Trump knows that Fauci, who has advised every president since Ronald Reagan, is seen as credible with a large section of the public and with journalists, and so he has given the doctor more leeway to contradict him than he has other officials, according to multiple advisers to the president.
Will Trump drain the swamp again?

People have done some panic buying here, but I have always found substantially stocked shelves everywhere. Both the consumer and the supplier seem to be more savvy. Finding necessities here is easier because there are far more local markets and marts than I have ever experienced in my life.

My family survived all of Hawaii's calamities throughout beginning in 1970 without panic buying. We were middle class but not affluent. My 3 sisters shared one pair of shoes in the 70's. My brother and I did not have shoes at that time. The need for toilet paper and water are ridiculous. Hawaii has the best tap water in the world. Why would anyone buy water in Hawaii? The need for toilet paper is solved with a bit of water and a wash of the hands. I am not opposed to buying toilet paper or bottled water, but not in a panic situation.

Recovery is sooner than you think. Suck it up and bear it in the mean time.

Sorry, I was mixing apples and oranges here. One is the grocery stores and the other is the (stock) markets. I wouldn't suggest hoarding of any kind of goods such as water or toilet paper. I would advise that people who can, invest in the stock market when it's down as the market took a plunge from it's high in February to over 20% lower. I think it will take about 2-4 years for the stock market to bounce back. I suspect there will be bankruptcies for a lot of companies in different segments due to social distancing, etc. in about six months so, the market has not really hit bottom yet.
