Should look in the mirror to see what the problem is.

You made me think of Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror” song. However, TG seems incapable of introspection - only deflection and denial.

Graham’s dismissal comes as little surprise to most around the program after almost two years of speculation surrounding his job. But in an impromptu press conference on Sunday, one that began minutes after vice president of university athletics Ray Anderson concluded a 30-minute presser of his own explaining the decision, Graham was still in slight disbelief.

He was asked if he knew his firing was coming: “No.”

Was he surprised to be let go: “Yes.”
His termination has been a long time coming.

Anderson was publicly frustrated with his adopted football coach two summers ago. He went public with his criticism, telling local sports talk radio station Fox Sports 910 AM in July 2016, “One of the things, very frankly, that we’re trying to do better around here is to talk less and deliver more. We’ll be minimum on the bravado and all the predictions about greatness and just let our play speak for us.”
As wins began to decline in recent years, so did stability amongst the program’s coaching staff. Former offensive coordinator Mike Norvell – whom Graham claimed is the executor to his will – left ASU following the 2015 season to become head coach at Memphis. His replacement, Chip Lindsay, lasted just one season with the Sun Devils before jumping ship last year to take the same job at Auburn. Ex-Alabama receivers coach Billy Napier was hired to take over the role this year, the third different Sun Devils offensive coordinator in three years.

Keith Patterson had been defensive coordinator since 2014, but was demoted to linebackers’ coach after last season. Veteran defensive mastermind Phil Bennett, a personal friend of Graham’s, was introduced as defensive coordinator this year.

The musical chairs pattern of his staffs was something Anderson cited as a reason for moving on from Graham.

“We’ve had a lot of turnover,” Anderson said of the staff changes. “There’s all kind of reasons why that is, but at the end of the day the head coach is responsible for developing and then retaining his coaches so you can have continuity.”

Graham’s roster of players suffered the same story. Finding a replacement for Kelly has proven to be futile, even after an improved junior season from quarterback Manny Wilkins this year. Several of the team’s top defensive players over the last several years have left the program, either through transfer or medical retirement. Those who have played on the back end have struggled to recreate the dominant defense of Graham’s early years at the school.

On FB, his wife said Covid is the cause of the problems with the team.

The family is bad news. TG’s legacy is turning UH into a JUCO feeder for P5 schools. Laulu and Muasau with offers from UW and Miami (The U, not in Ohio), Laulu also from Cal, Mardner from Va Tech - so far.

The original post was by Derek Thomas' mother and TG's wife commented. The post and comments were taken down, put back up and now appears to have been taken down again. TG's wife also appears to have deactivated her FB page.

The pandemic, the change of regime, and the transfer portal have undoubtedly changed our world of CFB. Rolovich was a restoration of the Jones --> McMackin--> program build. Rolovich sought higher pay and was found unworthy. Covid (lying about it) was surely the cause of his demise also. Our program is a patch-work of wishful thinking. Had we kept an awesome duo of promising, young coordinators in Rolovich and Aranda the program would have reached next level. Instead, we settled for a has-been 'Loco' boy with has-been 'loco' assistants that didn't do anything. I get that you are all trying to spin this disaster to your own making but it ain't coach's fault. Look how many of our competitor's players have also departed via the portal. It's a whole new world. I hope coach can get with it.

It's apparent that what Graham failed to develop was the sense of pride in the team and UH. This probably was a result of his my way or the highway communication. You could see the same ugly face on his son, Bo when the players were coming off the field. The fire should have been in the kids. Bo would never earn the respect of players at any level but would try to demand it.

Transfer portal or head coach? TG will never acknowledge that he is at fault. The buck stops at the HC on a football team.
Cats don't have owners. Cats have servants.

all the evidence in front of us points to a team culture problem. If there's no team culture problem, your all-conference linebacker probably doesn't transfer. Your starting QB doesn't transfer to the greener pastures of San Jose State(?). the guy in charge of this team culture problem had team culture problems at his last coaching stops. teams that don't have a team culture problem don't go on social media to air their grievances. teams that don't have a team culture problem don't lose this many of their starters to the transfer portal. the problem could not be more obvious and singular: the guy in charge is unable to establish a team culture that people want to be a part of.

Where's the spin? There is no spin. All of that is clearly observable.

I mean there are players that want to be part of this team. How else would he get recruits, even local recruits? Its just that some of these players did not want to be part of this teams culture cause it was so different from the one they originally came here for.

P Jackson Ray has entered the transfer portal.
RB Marcus McElroy has entered the transfer portal and transferred to McNeese State.
DL Ellison Hubbard has entered the transfer portal and has transferred to Sam Houston State.
CB Linwood Crump has entered the portal.
QB Jonah O’Brien has entered the portal.
WR Kyjuan Herndon has entered the transfer portal.
OL Mike Ciaffoni has entered the transfer portal.
RB Christian Hunter has entered the transfer portal.
QB Todd Centeio has entered the transfer portal.
OL Cam Reddy has entered the portal and has transferred to Liberty
OT Elijah Johnson has entered the transfer portal.
DB Robert Floyd has entered the transfer portal.
OG Vince Picozzi has entered the portal.
TE Dylan Walker has entered the transfer portal.
TE Brian Polendey has entered the transfer portal and has transferred to West Virginia
Hawaii does not lead the MWC in transfer players. There is a world of difference between TG and Rolovich's style. TG will never fit that mold. It doesn't mean he's incapable of establishing a team culture. It just doesn't jive with Rolo's player/coach culture. Anyway, I know you to be a true Warrior fan. We'll just have to disagree on this one.

I looked at the CSU game notes vs Hawaii. They lose 2 starters and 2 2nd team guys. So 4 in the two deep. How many have we lost? 7 starters (1 1st team all MWC) and 1 backup. Numbers don't tell the whole story. Like you said, we'll have to disagree on this one

The big difference between CSU and UH is that CSU had a coaching change. UH has the same coach.
