Last year and this year is a tough year to be offering scholarships to walk-ons because of the additional year of eligibility for all players. You either offer up a scholarship to a walk-on or find players that will improve your team or keep the scholarships for 5th/6th year seniors.

Renford Frais was smallest man in UH history to score a TD. Multiple TDs. He was 5'4" (and maybe 140lbs) and a walk-on. Teammate of Hekoti Fakava at Moanalua. Wagner let him play, and score TDs, when the game was in hand.

Ren was my classmate in PE class, and the first guy to talk to me when I was a new student, small kid time. There are many great walk-on stories at UH. I like to share this one because dreams do come true.

However, surprised to see that walk-on Safety #36 Kalamaku "Ku" Kuewa (KHS-Kapalama '18), who has been a regular contributor on Special Teams, was also removed from the roster.....as was true frosh walk-on DL #60 Kalani Atwood (Leilehua HS '21).

Local walk-ons come and go....on a regular frequent basis....but LL's publicly stated reasons for departing the program probably won't help attract local HS prospects from West Oahu (at least from Kapolei HS)....in the near-term future.
I wonder who former walk-on Leonard Lee is pulling for to be the next HC? Hmmm....let me guess.... https://twitter.com/Lennyisblessed/status/1483542565676666880
